    I agree with wooden_nickel’s comments 100%.

I know I read every topic that has a little new post light next to it, and I suspect most everyone else does to. I would love to see more postings in the recommended caches topic. Frankly, I tend to just skim over the general topics.

I too hope Team Everest comes to the campout. Meeting the people behind the postings on the forums can make a big difference.

As for this topic, it has evolved into something with a whole lot of inter-personal dynamics underplaying it. And….I’m not going to say anything more about it.

    edit: yes
    delete: no

I’ve never been on a forum that didn’t allow editing of your posts for at least a little while! When I go back and read them within the context of the thread, I often find myself editing for clarity. Rather draconian to not allow that in my opinion.

Thanks to everyone for all your kind words. We had a lot of fun hiding the temps and talking to everyone, but it’s not something I’m going to do again right away! LOL!

    Final attendance count: SIXTY FIVE!!!!

What I’m saying here is if there was some official presentation material provided by WGA, a geocacher could approach their local Sheriff’s department and offer to educate the deputies on what a cache is, etc.

I think this is a great idea. If we had something like this, then we could recruit members to go out and do this as a type of community service.

I would also like to see something in the packet geared specifically for parks departments that would incude information from other park departments that have established symbiotic relationships with the geocaching community – Waukesha and Greenfield come immediately to mind. I think parks people may be more open-minded about geocaching when they can see how other communities have benefited.

But what happens when your old geocaching buddies call you up and want to geocache with you? It’s hard to say no to us, I mean them, isn’t it.

My name is Jennifer and I’m an enabler.

    Hey – congratulations!!!

We met Jim and Mrs. Jim on the trails last month up in Chippewa Falls where we all were able to DNF a missing cache together. Ah, memories….

Ranking can also be found here:

But I really like looking at all the other stats on the HOB site. I especially find “rate” interesting. Hope they can bring it back.

in reply to: TB question #1760776

Yes, it happens. It is annoying for the TB owner to get all these emails. But it can be even more annoying for the person who actually took the TB home. Imagine logging a TB in your posession out of an event, only to have it grabbed from your inventory and dropped back in the event. Then you go to place the TB, and it’s not there in your inventory! One of my little pet peeves.

Can you tell this has happened to me? More than once???

The rain is supposed to hold off until afternoon. And hey – who’s afraid of a little rain? Remember that icky stuff falling from the sky at last year’s Team Badger Brunch? So I guess it’s tradition!

I spend the most time here and on the geocoin forums, which is not strictly a geocaching website, is it.

in reply to: Sunday Events??? Yes or no?? #1760974

Our faith does not require Sunday services either, so we are flexible either way.

I think you’ll get more people on a Saturday, but many will come on a Sunday too.

Not that I mind. I’m just glad so many people are coming!

in reply to: Team Badger Winter Festivus and Breakfast #1738652

Man, I had no idea that this would be so controversial! I was told by people with experience to make sure everyone paid up front and the best way to do that is to make payment associated with the log book. It never occurred to me that people would want to come and not eat. But if you DON’T EAT, you DON’T HAVE TO PAY. And frankly, I expect to lose money on the whole thing.

    Hope that clarifies things.

Wow – that would rack up the miles!

But that would be a great excuse to go caching in parts of the state I’ve never been to…..
