I have a supply of “TravelJohn”s, a disposable urinal found with camping supplies. They come in packs of 6. These have been perfect for my 5 year old daughter who always has to go when we’re out in the middle of a woods. It’s a bag with a cup at one end to pee into and an absorbent gel inside to suck up the liquid. She can use it while standing up and stays clean and dry. Once used, I wrap it in another plastic bag and throw it away.
I don’t see this as a CITO issue. Like Cathunter says, we are just another animal. I see no problem with peeing in the woods. But these TravelJohns have been a godsend for my little girl who, no matter what I tried before, would always manage to get something wet. Now hygiene is no longer an issue for her. I would recommend them for anyone not comfortable with peeing in whatever environment they happen to find themselves in.

Ppptthh! So much for long range forecasts! Hope everyone who was able to make it had a lot of fun. We had alot of drifting out here in the country this morning and the afternoon was not going to work for us due to other obligations. Will you do this again next year? Pleeeease?
Aaahh – graduation, schmaduation! What’s more important? Sitting there listening to boring speeches and getting a piece of paper? OR using billions of dollars of military technology to find containers in the woods???
Seriously, quite a quandry. Hope it turns out ther’s no conflict! I know I am soooo looking forward to being out camping again!

~ Sarah WilliamsI’m sure a lot of us can feel your pain about losing your first bug right off the bat. I’m not sure what else you can do that you haven’t already done. Perhaps the cacher lost it or placed it in a rarely visited cache and forgot to log it in. If they don’t respond to emails, you may never know. I can only give you advice for the future. Don’t send anything out as a travel bug that you aren’t prepared to lose. If you expect it to go missing, you will be only be happy if it doesn’t! I think the best way to forget about your first loss is to put more out there and watch them move around. Just keep them simple – don’t invest a lot into them. All of mine have been either theme key chains or something I had lying around the house. I can still be creative with their names and missions. If they go missing – oh well, I’m only out the few bucks for the tags. Good luck.

~ Sarah WilliamsRan across Jeremy’s post on the GC.com forums today and spent, oh gosh, about 6 whole minutes getting all 3 of my listings updated. But it was fun picking and choosing!

Come on now, jthorson, kbraband, the beast, GrouseTales and FlushingGrouse were out on the trails this morning. A little hot coffee served from the tailgate and we were off to the trails 🙂[/B][/QUOTE]
OK, I figured I might get some grief for that, but you try taking my kids out on a day like this and listen to their whining for a while! I can put 10 layers on them and they will still complain about being cold. 😉
Plus, I’ve heard of GPSr screens freezing up. Exactly at what temperature does that occur?
There have been no updates on the recent logs page since the 11th. I know I’ve posted a note since then and my mother who just got her own account just yesterday went back to log the caches she found with us – none of this is showing up. Acutally just look at the date it says it last updated and it says the 11th. Soooooo….somethings not right here.
As for caching in the winter, it definately has its advantages. However, greyhounder and I called off our plans for today with this extreme cold. Once the temps get back into the 20s or so, you will see us on the trails again!

Hi Alan,
We can be there, but we may be a few minutes late. Geoff is a Cub Scout – I’m sure he would be willing to work with the boys and share his “expertise”Thanks for the warning, Jeff. Good thing I don’t have too much going on the rest of the month!
Arrrgh! I can’t decide! How do you pick just one???

~ Sarah WilliamsThis one has hit my first page of filtered caches, so I’m curious about it too. Bec, you asked in the note you posted to the cache whether the placer, Artopsy, is still active. A check of his profile shows the last cache found in 9-02 and the last time GC.com was visited was 9-04. Perhaps, if the container can be replaced by someone, it could be adopted? If that doesn’t happen, then maybe it should be archived so a new cache can be placed there.
Here’s hoping you can find someone to check it out with you!
