Way to go Auntie! I guess as long as I give you a target, you’ll keep reaching for it, eh?! LOL! Now, where did I put #700?

Okay, so in all fairness to these people…they only have 119 finds (115 if you subtract their own cache)…and this is their only hide. Maybe they just didin’t know what they were doing would affect their cache counts. I sent them a note:

Hi…I see by your numbers that you are relatively new to the sport of Geocaching, and that you have only one hide. There was some conversation on a recent forum thread in WI about people logging their own cache hides as finds. Are you aware that you logged your own cache as a find on four seperate occasions? When you go in to drop a bug, pick something up, or do maint. on the cache you should post it as a note. Then your message gets out, but you don’t play with your cache find totals. I wasn’t sure if this is something you meant to do, or if you knew it would affect the count, or if you even cared. I just wanted to send a note of question. Thanks for your time. Keep on hiding ’em…we all love the hunt! Happy Caching!

I don’t know if it matters, but I sent it anyhow.

LOL! It really isn’t a hard one…post a note on the “looking for someone to cache with” page…try to get some more people to go with you! Let me know if you have a problem with that. I may be convinced to swim again…maybe…

in reply to: Events are where it is at #1741600

Geez…is it me or are T&TB trying to make sure we all see that there is an event this weekend? Seems everywhere I look there is another link set by them…hmmmm….are you trying to tell me to get my order put in? You two crack me up!

in reply to: Rock Lobster #1741604

It’s okay Bec…if you look at the page for the cache you’ll see that there is a mystery hat to rescue you if need be…hee! hee! You don’t have to swim really, pretty much just hold on. You’re only under for a sec…unless you drop it. Yikes, there’s a thought! Maybe someone should tie a line to it…hmmmm…

Well we did it! I guess next time we should give Kelly the date of the day before so that she will be sure and make it there. LOL! The only other thing I can say about this cache is…HOOTIE HOO!!!

Great job on 1300…hmmm, where can you get a quick 200 to join the 1500 club? Luckily we live in a cache rich state! Good luck to you!

I too was just outside of Atlanta at the time. I had driven down to spend some time with friends. Several of us were meeting for a quick breakfast and a day of shopping. Before we had a chance a family issue took over and we found ourselves stuck in the moment. As things were playing out there, a call came to one of the ladies via Nextel and we all looked at each other like he was crazy…what the heck did he say? We turned on the tv and watched as if frozen in time. Unfortunately that wasn’t the only sadness of the day for the group in that room.

A couple of hours later I felt like I needed to do something. There had been a call for blood donations in the Atlanta hospitals…I knew I couldn’t give blood, but I could give time and energy. I drove to the one where a friend worked, and within a few minutes I was sitting behind a make-shift check in desk processing the names of those who came in to donate blood. I think I left sometime around 3 am the next morning. (I would have stayed but…) I grabbed a couple of hours sleep and got in my car to come home to my family. Somewhere along the ride home I realized that I had left my wallet on the table at my friends house…so armed with the $8 in the pocket of my jeans from the day before, the $20 I leave in the car for emergencies, a calling card for the same such reason and a lot of prayer…I drove toward home. Logic won’t allow me to understand how I ever made it home on one tank of gas and $20 to spare (I used the $8 for lunch), but my heart knows that there was definately a higher power taking care of me! I remember being angry each time I passed a gas sign…the average price was $3 per gal. Then on the radio came the news about prosecution of those found to have hiked their prices…I laughed for the first time in 2 days.

I’ll never forget the events of the day that impacted so many…I feel for anyone who thinks it didn’t change their life, or affect them. And so the prayers continue…

Anyhow, this year was spent caching with family and friends. A much nicer way to spend the day.

Okay, so I really should spend more time looking at this site! I was just showing a friend from South of the border our little website…and of course I had to bring up the hat thing…little did I know that I was going to spend 30 minutes laughing my hat off! I hadn’t looked at this in a while so I was almost as surprised as he to see what had been happening at the drop of a hat. Okay…so no more corny jokes. In all seriousness…I take my hat off to all of you creative people out there! You crack me up. LOL! We have quite the little group of cachers here, eh?

ps. drtmn says he wants to live closer so he can play with us…

This is what the commander sent me Kelly (with the time adjustment of course…):
Saturday it is. 8:30AM at the north beach parking lot, near the park headquarters. The rule for the day is: Swim or No Find! See you there.

Now, if anyone else is reading this thinking of joining us…don’t go there on Spider time, use Badger time (add 30 min.)! See you there!

I actually took the page I printed from the Best Buy website…it had the sold out thing on it, but it also said it was available in stores. The guy called Best Buy while I was standing there and talked to him. Got off the phone, called for a manager to bring keys to the department, and pulled the units from the cabinet. He only said that since it was a close-out, they would only match the price, not do the double back thing…fine with me sir! LOL!

in reply to: garmin yellow etrex #1750969

So…Yes, Best Buy is sold out online…and yes, there are only a handful to be had in the state of IL (you can go to your local store and have one transferred in for you)…and yes, Gander Mountain does match prices…now, here’s the thing…if in fact the price you are trying to match at Gander Mountain is a special, limited number, or close out item they will honor the price match without the double back. So…if in fact one was to go to the Gander Mountain in Janesville, where they currently have 6 in stock, carrying the printed add from the Best Buy website, you could get your Garmin ETrex for $49.99 plus tax. Me, I got 2 for the kids and paid $104.98 including tax(not my first choice in units, but okay for starters). Don’t you just love our little website and the information it provides? Hee! Hee!
