Congrats from Tishman & Co. On to 300…
Congrats Jeff! On to 1300, eh?!
Wow…where have I been that I completely missed this? So sorry Jeff! Congrats on all you do to hide and seek a cache! I’m glad to be on your team! Were they here, Tishman & Lucy would also welcome a chance to congratulate you so I will do it on their behalf. Congrats my friend!
~LinusThanks everyone! Lucy and I have been trying to stick together on the caching adventures. I love that we are able to do that. We just got back from a week in Dallas…actually we were there 5 days…took 2 to get there and 2 to get home. It was tough trying to decide which caches to get, but I managed 21 (plus she got 2 I already had), 8 benchmarks and 4 states. Not a bad time hanging out with my sister. We shared the bus driving duties…in case you’re wondering.
Thanks again…from both Lucy and I![This message has been edited by Linus4Cache (edited 07-01-2004).]
Thanks for the notes everyone…I wasn’t ignoring you, I was out on a caching adventure with Lucy. Oh yes, the sisters hit another 21 and 8 benchmarks and 4 states this trip. Hmmm…do I hear 500 before the picnic? Could be…

Isn’t there a way to list an address and have it turned into the co-ords? I’m not sure how to do it, but I’m pretty sure you could call upon our friend Cachew for help. I gave him my address once and he told me where I lived…try e-mailing him for help. If you can get the address of the shop that would help, right?
Okay, I’m a little scared of this one…My Sister and her husband introduced me, then one of my daughters to Geo. So that makes my sister my mother…my brother my father…my daughter my sister. Then I took my husband one day, making him my son, and my sister’s brother her grandson. My sister,brother-in-law, daughter who is my sister, and I took my son, so that makes my son my son, and my sister’s nephew her grandson, and my brother’s nephew his grandson, and my daughter who is my sister is my son’s aunt. My husband who is my son is now my son’s brother and my daughter who is my sister’s daughter and my brother’s daughter is my sister? (no wonder my oldest daughter is staying away from Geo…all the money being invested into her college education is paying off, eh?) Oh man, someone stop me please!
Oh wait…my sister and brother-in-law have three kids who are their kids, making my nieces my sisters and my nephew my brother. Thus making my brother-in-law and sister’s kids, who are my son and sister, their sister and nephew. And my husband, who is their uncle and my son, is their nephew.
Yikes, does anyone hear a country song being written? Sounds a little like steel guitars in the background. And while we have a car on blocks in the front yard (not really…it’s in the driveway w/ out the blocks), nowhere in my house will you find a 13 inch black and white tv stacked on top of another one that doesn’t work anymore. And I do have all of my teeth inside my mouth. LOL!!!
Then of course there are those I introduced who don’t live in my house. I don’t even want to go there! It appears that there is a really big tree with ONE really big branch on it. Thankfully it only grows in the land of Geo! I generally like my trees w/ more than one branch!
Okay, are you all as confused as I am?

So the really bad thing is that if I’m not out caching, I’m sitting here at the computer reading about caching, logging caches, posting on forum sites, looking for caches. AAAHHHH!!!! Oh well, who cares, the whole family caches anyhow. I try to plan outings on days when the kids are off and about. My husband works out of town, and when he’s home he goes w/ me. My sister and her husband are the ones who got me into this mess so they aren’t an issue. What the heck was the question? Oh yeah, before Geo there was working at the bar but who wants to work anyhow? If I need more gas money, or a new GPSR I’ll go back to work. Gotta love what I do…there’s always someone looking for a bartender! (Anyone out there need a good bartender? LOL)
I have two…one was given to me, the other was picked up at the breakfast. I left for Texas the day after the breakfast and got back late last night. I took the bugs w/ me and took lots of pictures of them at the caches we visited. I will be logging them in and out of all of the caches to get the miles on them, then will be releasing them into two of the four new caches I have planned to place in Southern WI…my hope is that when I place them, flatlanders won’t run up, grab them and take them south…so I will post a message here when I get approval on the lacations so that cheesers can make a run for them. Sorry for the delay folks, but better late than never, eh?
~LinusWhere does one begin on a topic such as this one? I personally enjoy 98% of the time I spend planning, driving to and actually caching. I generally cache w/ my Sister and her husband (and mine when he’s in town). We like the numbers, and are now getting into the TB side of it, but our main goal in caching is the time we get to spend together as a family, and the silliness which generally ensues because of this. (The rest of the family thinks we’re crazy…oh wait, we are!) The number of caches, TB’s, etc. are a bonus.
Like everyone there are times when I ask myself, “Self, what the…?” But mostly I love the sport and the wonderful places it has taken me. Without the introduction of the GPSR, I would have never seen these places.
Last night Lucy and I returned from a week long vacation. We went to a wedding in Dallas, TX. On the way there we were able to cache in 4 states. On the way home we got the ones we missed when heading South. Now I ask you, would there really have been a reason for us to stop in 4 states and travel for 25 hours for a drive that could have been completed in 14 hours? No, not w/ out our passion for GeoCaching. Over the course of our trip we managed 21 caches and 8 benchmarks. Oh, and a wedding, time w/ family, shopping, and yes…vactioning. This is what the sport is about people. You can do as much as you want, when you want. Each cache is a new place to see, a new item to find, and if you’re as lucky as I am…a new silly story to tell.
If you aren’t having fun step back and breathe for a while. GeoCaching isn’t going away anytime soon, we’ll all be waiting for you to come back. When I get to a “WTF” stage (yes, I do have those), I simply take a moment to remember what brought me here… The very first time I found a cache on my own. My first FTF…the first time I logged a cache, and the # of times I edited that log. The first person I told about the sport after I bought my GPSR…those I introduced to the sport, and the looks on their faces when they found their first one. The introduction to fellow cachers and the stories they tell of their own adventures. The laughter I hear when they talk of reading some of my logs. The questions they have for me and my team about our adventures. It’s all about the community. And that community of cachers is amazing! Even if I don’t feel like caching (yeah, that’ll happen…LOL) I would still want to see what others are doing. I imagine I would continue to attend events. Maybe that would spark the old caching flame.
The good thing is that there is always another cache to do. Another place to see. Another cacher to meet. So if I took some time off, I would have so much fun seeking the caches when I got back to it.
I’m a bit sappy, but I’m still blessed with a passion for this sport.
~LinusWow Otter! I missed the news…as you know I was in Texas. Glad to hear that you’re okay and I agree w/ the whole no more drywalling thing! I did it twice and that was two too many times! Hope your neighbors are doing well too!
~LinusCongrats on 200…Tishman & Co.
I’m always willing to help where I can, and though my numbers say otherwise, I am reasonably new to this sport (only here for 9 months). I am a bit curious about the cache hide dates…is it always done a month in advance? Tishman & Co. will actually be heading up to the Dells for that week, so we could stop and play a game of hide and seek! Or in this case, hide and seek at a later date.
Congrats on 400…I like 400!
Good question…what does it mean? And yes, congrats on your first 100…from Tishman & Co.
