BTW, ORF is Norfolk intn’ airport. And CRJ is Canadian air regional jet a branch of Bombardier for any snowmobile buffs. Sorry for the confusion in my abbreviations. Yup, as being part of Team Mesaba which is a regional carrier for Northwest my DH (dear Husband) is a mechanic and uses the standard 3 letter designations for things because it’s easier when talking about a specific airport like when someone works in a medical field the terminology wears off. Sorry for the confusion.

You guys had smart pilots then. When I flew Northwest back from Fargo ND. through MSP to Eau Claire I just turned it on in 1st class from Fargo to MSP and the flight attendant told me it was a banned item to please turn it off. I asked her to please ask the captain. They both said no. In MSP I personally asked the pilot (before boarding) if I could use it on the CRJ since my FIL used it on a saab 340. The pilot told me it might screw things up on the plane since a CRJ is a more avionics advanced plane than a saab 340. Hmmm, they use a version of a GPS on a CRJ to navigate, and a GPS doesn’t transmit, so there’s nothing going out to mess anything up. So the moral of this story is when flying don’t let your aircraft mechanic husband (who works on CRJ and saabs) talk you into turing on the GPS to find out how fast the bigger planes fly.

If I can get the GPS I’m going to try again tomorrow when I fly from CWA to DTW to ORF to see if I can use it again.

Chaumer and I are close to this area but I think they are looking for someone who has a little more experience than us. 🙁 Hopefully someone will contact her.

Chaumer and I spent a month in Canada last year for his company and we looked into getting our passports before we went and it was going to take something like 6 to 8 weeks to get them. We only found out about the trip 3 weeks before we went so it didn’t pay for us to get them. But if you are planning on getting a passport check into how long it will take to get it before you leave.

🙁 No go for Chaumer and me. This is the weekend of the big Kenosha rendezvous that we go to every year. So we will be south that week. But I’ll let the rest of Team Mesaba Know and hopefully they can come meet, greet and eat. (there good at eating) But if any catchers are in the kenosha area chaumer and I will be down by the lake front! hopefully there will be another event later in the summer that we can make it to?

This sounds like a great idea. I know Chaumer and I would be intrested in a get together. Depending on work scheduals we might be able to get the rest of team Mesaba there. Rib Mtn sounds like a good place to have it also. 🙂

DUH (smaking self in head) Once I scrolled down I answered my own question. But now I have another one to ask anyone who has played before…
Since I just started caching in Jan does that mean I can log any of my finds since then. Acording to the rules it says since Nov of 05, or in the spirit of the game do you try to find new caches and only log old ones if you have no other option?
This sounds fun and I hope to be able to start Sat. Thanks for any help.

I was just wondering how this works. It looks cool but I can’t find a rules or a directions area. Thanks for anyones help.

Going back to the original topic of junk found in caches… We went and did a marathon caching weekend and in one cache I found an empty Advair inhaled medication container! ICKY. That got removed. A month or so ago while doing a bunch of LaCrosse area caches with our niece and nephew we came aross a condom in a cache that was supposed to be a “toy box” cache. Of cource the kids saw it as my hubby was removing it and we got the “what’s that ?” We always trade up and most of the time once we are done trading I add a few extra things just to be safe. Just had to share about our junk experience.

For the cell phones on aircraft they are concidering allowing them in the future on certain flights but, do you really want to listen to 60 conversations on a red eye flight. I know I sure don’t. When your flying even right now if you ask the flight attendent to ask the captain most of the time they will let you use your GPS. On commrecial flights Gps, and laptops don’t affect the avionics. I would question where this artical came from. For the hospitals if they make a policy for no cell phone use across the board then it’s just there for everyone and they don’t have problems with Patients or visitors going out side of the cell phone allowed areas. It’s also a conciderstion for the Patients who need there rest and for the nurses. IMHO
