The south loop is closer to the group sites. It is primitive with no showers or flush toilets but you can go to the north campground and use them if you want. The south campground has more trees and the north campground is more open, mowed. The north campground is closer to the highway. We have never camped that loop so I am not sure if it is noisier there or not. I hope this helps!

Oh, and no electric in the south.

We still have the Etrex Legends that we bought when we started 6 years ago. We can’t afford to replace them, but have never had trouble in deeply wooded areas. We use them to get as close as we can and then hide in the bushes and wait for someone with a better unit to come and find the cache. After they leave we come out of our cover and sign the log.

That makes me laugh out loud!!

Do folks really lose satellite reception under a canopy, totally? Or is that just another way of saying the GPRs is bouncy like crazy, and taking you on staggered path?

We have a Garmin 60, I think it is, that always loses reception completely. We consider it a bad purchase and rarely get it out.

Our 60csx is the one we most rely on, but the Oregon 450 is good too and we love the paperless aspect.

Congrats on the finds! Paperless is terrific!

I asked the Barron Co Forestry Dept once and they have no problem with caches on Barron County Forest property. You may want to contact StagerCrew as I believe they did submit something or speak to the City of Rice Lake before they placed their caches and did have to go through some hoops. We have caches in Cameron and Barron and have not had any problems with placements on public property. Enjoy seeing all the new caches! Wish they were closer to Barron so I could grab them on my lunch hour but I will definately come over with my family shortly!

And it’s not your short legs, it’s the wide water.

    Darn WIDE WATER 🙂 Ha!!

in reply to: What excites you about geocaching? #1953998

For me it’s the hunt and the scenery.
I like being able to find something that so many people walk by and never notice. I love to be taken to beautiful places that I never would have found on my own. I also love that it gives me great stories to tell. I should also mention that I enjoy the time with my kids, walking, throwing rocks, stopping for ice cream and playing at the play areas.

I posted a few pics on each cache page. The pictures make it look like I should have made it all the way. Darn short legs.

Thanks! It was a great day! Making memories for the kids of mom (me) attempting to cross the rocks and not get swept away.
