I should also be able to help hide temps…dependent on the date of course. 😛

An automatically generated welcome message would not be as personal but would work to make us more inviting at the very least.

in reply to: Historical Earthcaches #1890054

I love to incorporate history in my Earthcaches wherever possible and I loved doing your WSQ Drumlin Mounds Sacred Grounds EC. It was very well done.

As to my Lime Kiln caches…there is an emphasis on history yes but also a wealth of information about the rock that is processed there and its uses as well as in some cases information about the areas specific geology (such as the Niagara Escarpment). I have to wonder how someone can’t see the EC worthiness of one of those caches? The ones at Grafton and High Cliff have loads of geological information.

Holy Cow My Iowa EC has been racking up deleted logs! People cannot seem to get the pic uploaded there. I’ll bet I have deleted nearly a dozen logs now (for no picture) between my various EC’s. And you wonder why I have been creating EC’s only to give them away…

Hey LB7.. are you finding that these are Newbees not e-mailing or putting photos on??? Or is it a combination of both??

Most have under 300 finds (but not all). I do check how many finds the cacher has and see if they have found Earthcaches before as well as check the logs of any they have done to see if they logged those correctly. Then I contact them and explain how Earthcaches work if needed or remind them to send me more information or the photo…then only if they do not contact me or they refuse to send the information do I delete their find after a week or so.

I signed this some time ago. There was a meeting in Oconomowoc last night about tightening up the Wisconsin Laws…not sure how it went yet though. A few weeks ago I walked past Courtney’s school locker. In her locker there was a poem she wrote; I cried.

    I think I have a streak of 4 or 5 days.
    Yours is an impressive feet.

I am like minded about the questions…there is much leeway granted but I draw the line at the photo req (in most cases).

It is very rare that I even get a response to my emails…. 🙄
Oh well that is part of the fun I guess.

in reply to: So… Where Do You Want The Picnic? #1889775

I really like the idea of Lapham Peak. I know it was used way back in the day but it is a great park with plenty of trails…plus it’s like 10 minutes from me 😛

(Could someone send me a link to the Michigan main boards I want to post my condolences for a fallen friend; with so many chapters I was confused where to go to post)

I beleive the fox river separates one of my caches from another that is less than .1. As others have stated, there can be exceptions and it all depends on the terrain and what’s involved.

Yep…my point is that there can be exceptions made but there needs to be reasonable expectations as to how far the ‘rule’ can be bent.

A reviewer MIGHT let you get away with a few feet less than 528 because of a natural border nut not more than a few feet…they have rules to follow.

I am well over the 528 feet if you take into consideration the path of travel to the cache from the other cache is not a straight line. Again the 528 feet is a rule of thumb not a rule. And no where does it say 528 feet as “the crow flies”.

So if I understand your argument you should be allowed to place a cache on each side of a 30 foot wide river because to get to them (by foot mind you…never mind someone could take a boat) they will have to first find a bridge which in your scenario makes the trip over 528 feet away?

Sorry but the 528 rule is as the crow flies…again good luck. I hope the reviewers see it your way.

in reply to: 528 foot rule #1889876

From past experience, you will have to find the reviewer on a good day and/or have one heck of a terrain boundary to get much closer than a few dozen feet in allowance…but then the current reviewers are not ones I have delt with on this issue. Good luck. And yes you are correct they are volunteers.
