Gary like they say, in Wisconsin if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes and it will change. Pretty much the truth!!!

How many EC’s do you have out there now?

I know you were having some problems with the Brown county one… They are a bunch of idjits!

Way to go on the Platinum earth cache master!

Thanks. It’s still a bit premature as the weather could also kill my trip to MN…but it should work out that I get the final cache I need there this week. I’m sorry the weather didn’t play nice for you all.

This just gives all those armchair loggers an easier way to log our virtuals….I had two German teams log my virtual in this way (and with some Internet research as well)….both were deleted.

    Awe…. 😕
I’d so like to join in this one…..well at least leave me some footprints to follow as I will be up there in a few weeks….on another note I’ll be earning my Platinum Earthcache Master pin next week! 😛

…also if you find any MUST DO caches in the area or just South please let me know so I can add them to the list.

I’m sure that they have no clue as to what an earthcache is or how it is logged. I’m sure that they don’t care that this can bring about a greater awareness of the beauty and the fascinating geology of our county.

This is to be my 8th Earthcache and I explained everything very carefully. I even quoted at length sections of the earthcache guidelines. It boggles my mind how this might not be allowed…or how the land manager needed to get so many revisions and then contact the legal department in order to let people walk on the trails in a tax payer funded county park.

    Gary,

I’m hoping this one will be up and running in a week or two. For this one, the hike is 2 miles round trip, but the waypoints were so interesting, it didn’t seem that long when we hiked it on Sunday. lagrac’s earthcache is just downriver from here, about five miles driving. It’s a wonderful little corner of Iowa to explore, one that dispels the popular image of the state as nothing but cornfields.

I do agree that earthcaches should continue to bring us to interesting places and features. In the case of this one, the seeker is looking at how the area geology shaped the culture that became known as the Moundbuilders. Their descendants today are the Ho-Chunk, therefore the sites at the Monument are sacred ground. Hence the need to handle this one with care (as all should be, actually!) It’s really been fascinating to me as a storyteller to read all the controversies surrounding the mounds and their meaning, when the oral traditions of the Ho-Chunk explain it all.

The view at the highest point is to die for, by the way. The confluence of three rivers, a string of mounds along the ridge behind you, the blufflands along the river….ah!

Thanks for putting this great cache out. I am planning on hitting it this coming Sunday, and then heading on down to lagrac’s just south of yours.

I posted a note in the “Looking For Someone to Cache With” forum, to see if anyone wants to join me. Looks like a great place to walk with friends.

I’d come with ya but I’m gonna drag my family to this one while we Trudy camp (actually a cabin) in a few weeks.

If this does by some miracle ever get published please do not go look for anything that looks like the first two images…you are only allowed to see the third one (preferably from the parking lot….in your car…with the doors locked).

It works in my “sticks” … which amazed me.
In fact it “spoils” one of my caches, 2 seconds later and an on coming car would have block the spoiling view.

Here’s an article that explains how it all works and shows the cool camera they use:

Yep I just had to reword a few things on my virtual cache…the camera shows the spot a bit too well.

    Patience……………….

The difference between getting a board position or not is only one vote this year, so we have to take a bit of extra time to double check that all the votes are legitimate before certification can occur.

An announcement will be coming soon.

LOL…hum I wonder if I should have voted for myself?

Don’t worry. I didn’t vote for myself either, but did cast a vote your way.

Appreciated. I can’t recall now…I threw either two or three votes…

To be polite I’ll just say no I do not smoke…EVER!
(I’d have to move my thread to a less family friendly place to post my real thoughts on smoking).
