What happened to them being limited to the first 250 people who registered on the cache page?
There was supposed to be something special this year for the first to sign up…did that notion go by the wayside…cuz I don’t recall anything special in my bag of swag.

How many flags does a challenge have to have to be deleted?
Top secret, but stick with flagging “no location” challenges as inappropriate.
I think they need better wording in their flagging options…I think folks get confused about the options available and what they mean.
Here are your choices:
Prohibited
Offensive
Spam
Unplayable
These seem vague to me.I find my opinion of these is MUCH better now that they have spit them from official find counts…I’d still like them to go somewhere else but I’m willing to give them a chance as a stand alone activity.
I find them much easier to ignore / participate in since they don’t count for squat now.
A one or two word log on my ECs has me hovering over the delete button as soon as I see the log. You sent them a reminder (which you are under no obligation to do)….as this is their first EC and they are relatively new to the game, I’d give them a few more days then delete it.
So long as the challenge totals are kept separate from our geocaching finds I could care less what they do with these. An ignore option would be nice though.

We are working on splitting out cache finds and challenge completion counts. Both will be displayed on the logs unless you have not found a Challenge. In that case the statistics for Challenges won’t be shown. This should be done by the end of the week (August 26) (30517)

I was listening to the Podcacher Podcast from last Wednesday (8/17) and it has an interview with Jeremy & Brian. Very interesting perspective on where they’re expecting this to go.
Care to fill us in on the bullet points?

Hurray!! Our coins have been found in Michigan. They were picked up on accident by a geocaching team we had been chatting with. We should be getting our coins and the rest of the contents of our swag bag on Wednesday.
Thats awesome, kind of gives me hope for people after all! π

So I was considering it and even posted the link on facebook but a friend of mine told me it was already full. I will have to look into it some more.
It is not full….registration does not even begin until Sept 1st or 2nd. I do also know the person putting this on if you have any questions.

This looks pretty cool! So is walking truly acceptable or would I be scorned?
There will be plenty of walking….the goal is to have fun.

There are 21 scheduled obstacles that include 3 mud pits, two hill climbs, a water slide, tires, cargo nets, sugar cookie sand mound, water crossing, log rolling, wall climbs and all kinds of other obstacles. DonΓ’β¬β’t be surprised if we add a few more. You are going to get dirty!
The course is designed to be challenging but doable for everyone. There will be a bailout section for any obstacle if you are uncomfortable it. In particular there is a planned water crossing. That obstacle will have a clear bailout section that will allow any runner to skip the obstacle and run around the pond to the next obstacle.
The distance is approximately 8K (4.8 miles). There will be a “shortcut” for those who want to get back to the beer tent first. It will be after obstacle 17 above and will cut off about a mile. You will NOT be eligible for awards if you take the short cut and we canΓ’β¬β’t guarantee your friends wonΓ’β¬β’t give you grief for it.
How does the course compare to the Dirty Girl of Tough Mudder. The Lake Country Halloween Mud Run is set right in the middle. There will be more obstacles, more mud pits, more dirt and the course is about 1.7 miles longer than Dirty Girl. Its shorter and less intense than the Tough Mudder. You won’t have to cross fire, carry any logs, crawl under barb wire or get electrocuted at this event. It is about 1/2 the distance of the Tough Mudder.
The course was designed by a former US Navy Special Forces instructor and as such the obstacles are designed to be challenging but safe.
