Oh that is a sticky wicket! Personally I’d struggle with as you are and then I’d probably email the cache owner and seek his or her advise.

Although if all you’re going to do is find the local caches, why wait for an event?
referring to the dozens of temps…not sure if I’m understanding the question…

Or another option which piggybacks several ideas thrown out already: set stamps out in the 10 to 15 nearest perms, and then have people fill their books and bring them back for contest entries. This would serve to spread people out a bit further to avoid so much bunching up and provides hunters with prey. I too hate the rap many of us get for multiple logging of events; personally as far as I’m concerned to each their own but it burns me up that some people look down at our great events.
Still, running the show as described in this post does not make people be any more social at the event, but to be honest without some caches or a drawing I personally would be unlikely to attend. (I’m a bit on the reclusive side and need a push). I don’t know, perhaps have two drawings (must be present to win) during the day to get people to meet up as a group a few times. But then again, is it fair to force people to meet each other? I’m not sure and I certainly don’t have a win win answer to share.
Just spitballin’
I’m not sure that a temp-less picnic is needed, but a less temps picnic wouldn’t be all bad. In other words why have 30 hides out there when doing all of them would mean you’d have no time for socializing. Personally I’d rather see half as many (or less) at the next event. That being said, I’d love to see each of them being unique as well.
I have 19 pages…boy it sure feels like a whole lot more…
I’ve always liked the term Gaggle.
I submitted mine today. I haven’t heard anything about a time limit for forms to be sent in. Frankly I think it will be a very long time (if ever)…before the DNR starts pulling caches without them. But who knows?
The biggest reason that I submitted mine was to get it on file somewhere and lesson the chance that the bomb squad will be called.LOL Cheesehead Dave. I’m sorry but that’s a 10 minutes I have yet to bring myself to to terms with. I think I need some one with a cattle prod to come over and provide me with some incentive.
—EDIT—
*OUCH OK I did it; the forms (3) took me 10 minutes to fill out and address. The hardest part was to find the park mgr. I’m suddenly thankful that I have placed caches in only one state park.*To be honest I have gotten approval for almost all my caches but the ones on state owned property I did not get prior approval for as I was told by another cacher that on state property it was not required, and to be honest they were placed in areas that should not have been accidentally found.
When all this discussion about filling out the form came out I thought about pulling my caches rather than filling out the forms. Then I thought well I just wont fill out the forms and if they pull them they pull them. Now I see after reading some of these well thought out posts that there are a good number of reasons why we should be reporting these caches. Yes it is a pain in the butt to have to fill out these forms but I think it is a necessary evil.
My thanks goes out to the WGA for its continuing work to make caching in Wisconsin a better experience for all. It looks like I have some forms to fill out.
Did anyone find out why Uncle Fun had his shot down?
So DNR owned land would be what?
Are county parks DNR owned?
Local city parks?WOW! I think we should start hiding caches in fire safes.
