Are you syncing with a different Ipod….or on a different computer?

in reply to: iPod Touch sync question #1949036

New apps are just added to the ones which already exist. There is no need to delete / reload old apps. Apple thankfully is not as backward as Garmin in this respect.

Do admins have the power to edit a post? As Photos are no longer able to be required the above form needs to be edited to remove the text stating it can be required.

    The third paragraph should read:

I would like to create an EarthCache page near (list a feature of the park). GPS coordinates are N__ __.___ W__ __.___. People who visit geocaching.com would record the coordinates from the website, visit the park, and answer some questions about the site as well as optionally take a photo as proof of their visit. Once they send me answers to questions about the site, they could log the EarthCache as having “been found” on geocaching.com.

And as long as we are playing with the template lets make the items in red in another paragraph.

Please let me know if I could feature this park as an EarthCache as it would make a fine addition to the EarthCaches I currently list in Wisconsin which include FEATURE TYPE, FEATURE TYPE, FEATURE TYPE, FEATURE TYPE and even FEATURE TYPE. If I can answer any questions please let me know. You can learn more about Geocaches and Earthcaches at the following two links:

If the changes can be made please then delete THIS post. If an admin cannot make those changes I ask that this thread be deleted and the changes be made and a new thread (with a sticky) be created.
    -THX.

I agree that it is unusual to have only the final be Premium but that is your choice. For someone to cry to government authorities about it is pathetic. If they really wanted the smile so bad they could have emailed you.

The local government is likely sick and tired of hearing from this person already….the choice to change it as a regular cache is yours…but letting folks like this get there way is what is wrong with this country.

I am completly convinced that Garmin doesn’t have a long range business plan. They keep going in so many directions, it seems like they are wandering aimlessly…..

….For a company who’s business is to help people find their way, they really seem to be lost.

I agree. They really seem to be struggling not only financially due to the advent of GPS equipped phones, but also as a company looking for direction.

I thought that phone was already discontinued…?

I guess not as I see it releases tomorrow… 😕

OK I see they discontinued the nüvifone G60….among other things…they sure do discontinue lots of stuff.

hack1of2 is of course right about the extra features…. I forgot about those.

I did want to add an aside however; many smart phones now come with turn by turn spoken directions…The days of the Nuvi are numbered.

I just bought the Oregon 550 (2) weeks ago and so far I love it. The paperless Geocaching is great. If you go to Garmin.com you can see the specs on the new Montana series. It looks like to me that the screen is slightly larger than the Oregon and the camera’s mega-pxels are a little higher.

I also have the 550 and love it….and concur with the comments on the Montana (better camera and larger screen).

in reply to: EarthCache (MEGA?) Event 2012 #1946498

    UPDATE:

1st International EarthCache Event Update – May 2011

The 1st International EarthCache Event (1IEE) planning is well underway with many exciting things to be announced through this newsletter each month. We will be providing you with information to help you plan your attendance – including more details on events, sessions and accommodation so that you can get the very most out of being in our part of the planet. We will also run some neat competitions where you can win prices, well before the event!

    The venue!
To start the great news off, we are super pleased to announce that the venue for 1IEE is Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine (N43 54.233 W070 15.429). This is an amazing venue just 35 mins drive north of Portland airport (around 25 miles). It provides us with great opportunities for outdoor and indoor venues for sessions and events as well as amazing activities for families to experience farm life.

We are starting to build the EarthCaching experience in the area so that while you are visiting you can work towards reaching your personal goals – and learn about some amazing Earth science!

The event runs on Sunday 2 September 2012 – and there will be pre and post event activities for which you to join so that you can make it a wonderful few days.

Help us to make it Mega
A mega event requires 500 or more people to log the Event cache on the day. We are very confident that we will reach that, but ask you to help us get the word out to your local geocaching group. Its easy – ask your local geocaching group’s webmaster to post the event on their website. The link is http://www.earthcacheevent.org. If you can, try and get the QR code posted as well – this code, when scanned by a smart phone, will send people directly to the 11IEE website:

When its done – share the link back with us by sending us an email here ([email protected]) letting us know where to see the mention, and your name and address and we will send you a small reward!

Want to be a sponsor for 1IEE?
We are seeking the support of organizations and companies to ensure that 1IEE provides an amazing experience for all the participants. At the same time, we hope that organizations and companies can see real value to their own marketing/promotion efforts by having a presence at 1IEE. We also offer the opportunity for individuals to become Friends of 1IEE – as a way for people to contribute to the sucess of the very first EarthCache Mega? event. For more infomration visit the event sponsorship page.

    This months competition
While not the first EarthCache placed in the world, a cache in Maine USA was converted into an EarthCache and therefore has the oldest ‘placed’ date of any EarthCache. The first 10 people who send us the name and cache owner of that EarthCache will be sent a small prize in the mail.

Send the answer and your name and address in an email here ([email protected]). Winners will be announced in our next newsletter.

We look forward to seeing you at the event next year!

    The 1IEE Team

(Please remember that this event is in 2012!)

I also have the 550…for the current price you are getting a deal. You might consider buying at REI. You will pay a bit more there but everything they sell is guaranteed for life.
