I am having 18 publish this Friday, thanks to Johnny Waypoint’s help.
Don’t count your chickens…I’m still new at this gig.
PM sent.
Just to confirm….Johnny Waypoint has nothing to do with these events.
That game was a blast.
The new reviewer, Johnny Waypoint…is me. I know this is not big news to some of you. I was invited to volunteer in early October and have been installing scripts to my computer and learning the ropes from Bec and Dave. At this point I have released about 50ish caches. For the next few weeks I will be relying on Dave and Bec to help me with the tricky listings. I want to thank both of them for providing me with a great foundation on which to start this new role. I will strive to make the reviewing as uniform as possible (between reviewers). Please remember that this is a VOLUNTEER position and Dave, Bec and I all have jobs and families…and pets and other commitments. If we are a bit slow to address your concerns, take a step back and remember we are here to assist you not serve you. I look forward to working with each of you in the days to come.

Those games were a blast. I circulated my train coin from one of the years and it went missing on I believe one of its first 3 or four caches.
Just realize that much of the IAT is actually paved roads which connect segments. Wear reflective colors or a vest. Also realize that many segments are not all that cleared and in the fall thorn bushes often cross the trails; good sturdy hiking pants will be a must.
It’s crazy that there have been so few. My hats off to them for hanging in there.
That trail is on my to-do list but I’m busy that day (and most of the rest of the weekends from here until September). Hope you find a riding partner.
I think they are lame. That said, it’s nice to see that Groundspeak is not afraid to try something different.

I haven’t said much on this topic, because I’m not really into swag. That said, if we want “prizes”, I’m thinking that this is a good spot for the DNR to step up and fund said prizes. As far as I know, they have contributed nothing to this project, so if they want to be involved, maybe this is their opportunity.
This is what I thought when I saw all of Zumas links…I was fairly sure that it was the parks who were funding those programs…not geocachers.

Sadly you’re right. But I wouldn’t want to not do something good for our members because a few dishonest people may work the system.
I agree. Besides it is always fun to point and laugh at the cheaters. Probably worth the price of admission.
Also, if the prizes were only available when attending a WGA event, people would have to claim the prize with others observing, which would be a real bonus for those who complete the challenge the right way and encourage others to work at it. The side benefit of that, is most cheaters would be reluctant to show their face to claim a prize in that type of situation.

That does seem like a fairly good compromise (for the larger items like a T or sweatshirt)…and way to keep it a little more honest.
Bringing in Prizes invites armchair logs….Patches are great but more than that encourages deception.
I’ve awarded 19% of mine. I still have over 350 to award. I generally favor quality caches and EarthCaches. I love caching on bike trails but the problem is I tend not to keep good records when doing so, so often those folks lose out on a deserved favorite point due to my poor housekeeping.
