The website is down today….I’m a bit leery about sending in my cash just yet…
…..OK it’s back up but still an inaugural event is always a bit dicey.
I posted in “off topic” about another race, this one in Watertown WI…new this year, the Rockman Challenge. Check the details in off topic.
This race is one week later….so you folks could do both.
That is amazing!
You can learn a lot from Spike007, his are some of the most original and fun geocaches I have found; you are very lucky to have him in yer neck of the woods.
Welcome to the game. Hudson has a number of great geocaches so you are in a really nice place to start this little obsession. A couple of my area favorites are “George Don’t Live Here No More” GC234QY and “Prozac Was Her Defense” GC23M7G . Oh and of course there’s always that great little walk you have into the river “Lake St. Croix ~ A Wide Spot in the River” GC23CQB . There are a number of nice events up that way and good folks…You’ll run across em sooner rather than later I suspect.
500 caches, 2 more states…and a trip somewhere to find some amazing EarthCaches.

Sounds fun. Any bets that a geocacher finds it?
I think the odds would favor a geocacher.

WOW – I will have to take more time later to read all of the above, but what I have read sounds pretty brutal… If I am correct there is a review process before a cache is placed! Is there also a post-install review?
Only when the caches pose a safety threat or are in disrepair for extended periods of time.
Fun thread. I know where I won’t be caching….
This is a bit off topic but I have to wonder how they will bring back Virts without them having the ALR? This could get messy….

And as far as cheaters goes, I dont see the point in worrying about them. The number of finds is not a score, and the only one cheated by a bogus log is the one making it.
zumaI do agree with this, but it was made clear that my obligation as an EC owner was to ensure that finds were legitimate. By watering down the proof of visit requirements, the “policing” of my ECs becomes more difficult. It seems clear now that TPTB no longer really care about the legitimacy of the finds….
I have half a mind to archive my ECs or to post a big “Welcome Armchair Loggers” sign on the top of each cache page. I strongly disagree with this decision…but on the other hand of the 15 caches of mine which have been favorited, 8 are my ECs. So clearly folks do appreciate the effort I made to present these listings and for that reason they will remain.

OK,
What I’ve heard so far seems a bit short sighted but I can live with that.
I guess I’ll go back to shoveling, r’ I mean caching. 😕No such thing as a stupid question, and it never hurts to ask. Well, maybe a tiny bit if you were anticipating different results.
I agree. I love that folks try to add to the game…some ideas are great and some are not. This one has been tried to some extent here and has caused some issues. I’m glad you dropped the idea though…I love to see new ideas!
Agreed, this is probably not such a good idea. There is a cache series locally which makes mention of some geocachers and there were some who were not mentioned who felt slighted.
It looks like a blast. I have done a few of these with biking between stages instead of running. The muddy ending looks particularity appealing. Have fun!
