Now what to do with the extra 287 points?
eBay?
My .02 cents x 287 = $5.74 Now do I charge for shipping or a service fee?
Zuma can get almost $28 bucks for his….where oh where will we spend all this geoincome?
I did go through mine and came up with a list of about 25 favorites…I’m sure I missed a few worthy one’s though. Now what to do with the extra 287 points?

The new feature at geocaching.com is so cool! Starting today premium members are able to rate their favorite geocaches of all time. For every 10 caches found you can pick one additional cache as a “favorite.” Per Groundspeak: “By awarding a point to a favorite cache, you help call attention to the highest quality caches in your area and reward cache owners for placing exceptional caches.
The Favorite Points earned by a cache are tallied and displayed on each cache page and in the search results for everyone’s benefit. Premium Members have the additional perk of sorting search results by the most Favorited caches.”
What a great idea! This is my first-ever post, by the way. I’ve been reading the posts in the forum (so many messages, so little time…), have found about 300 caches (so far) but haven’t posted anything in the forums until now. Another new experience! 😀
Good to have you aboard. Welcome to the WGA.
I like the new feature as well, and I think it is gonna be a good thing. I would give it an awesomeness rating of 2, docking it a couple of points since the 1:10 ratio seems a little generous now that I have played with it more.

Welcome to the boards….and I agree with Zuma 1:10 is WAY too generous a ratio.

I’m actually a littlc concerned about the stats page. It list the nearest and farthest cache which a good programmer could triangulate based on these 2 points and locate my house. That concerns me a bit.
Actually with the closest being only a 1/4 mile away it’s pretty easy to figure it out.
You don’t actually list your homes coords do you? I list a park near my home as my home coords.
I can’t let THEM find me……
Of course not, I list the coordinates to your home!

If only I could throw all my extra favorites on THE GAUNTLET.

I know we don’t need as many “favorites” as we’ve been given…
I have about 290 too many…way to water down the Favorite scheme. I could see maybe 1 favorite for every 30 or 40 finds…not every 10.
I awarded 11 of 311….I have some more work to do…

My preference would be for the CO to state how far the hike is then everyone is forewarned. Some days I feel like a longer walk than others and the weather is a real consideration.
I usually do this for anything over half a mile.
It’s just a “walk” if it’s under a mile. A hike generally entails the bringing of supplies.
Don’t really know what Twitter is about…I’d stick with regular web based stuff like Facebook…

The idea of the favorites is to provide a system where you can see what caches other people have enjoyed (and conversely, ones that were enjoyed “not so much”.)…….Then, you can be reasonably sure to find the “Don’t miss” highlights of the area, rather than finding the lampposts and fire hydrants. I can tell you that I will definitely be adding my favorites to the system, and I would encourage you to as well.
I agree, this might be a good development. I planned a vacation around good EarthCaches last summer and the family had a blast. The rating system has a lot of potential…it looks like folks with more finds are to be granted more “favorite tokens” to award also so that too is a good thing.

Did you check to see if it ran but has to be downloaded? Tnd there’s the lil box that need to be check for what version or something.
Just get a dead link back to the query page.
is anyone having a problem with their pocket query failing…it shows the query ran but I get no information with it…well not with the 1,000 file anyway.
I’m actually optimistic that this update could bring some good results…
…but I’m running a pocket query right now just in case.
