are the only ones within the park areaLet me again say how thrilled I was to find out you got permission to list the arch here as an EarthCache. As I posted on your Cache page, I was not allowed to even make mention of it when I set up the EC at the falls there…much less the “cave”.
Someone did get seriously injured there some time ago and they are still concerned about safety issues…so keep to the rules in this park and watch your kids.

I forgot to add that he just got a email from groundspeak and has been permanently banned now
WOW…he really ticked someone off!
That is good news. I believe there is talks with Opencaching about some type of virtual….

..bashing him here with out knowing exactly what happened is just wrong.

No one here is bashing him. There was a statement made by someone who had first hand dealings with him and found logging his caches difficult. I agree that the situation outlined by that person defies what I’d consider to be good sportsmanship. The purpose of this thread is to first point out that he got screwed and second to warn folks to fly straight with their own listings lest they incur the frogs wrath themselves.
..but still, I may have misspoke a bit as well. This is not about him but rather the treatment of him and EarthCachers over at GC.
Hearing first hand from folks here who have had dealings with him I have to say that he may have indeed earned a vacation… I do still take issue with the way GS waited 10 months to archive his finds and not to allow even his brother to adopt them…who has GS harmed here? EarthCachers. Allowing new ownership would have been a better solution…plus shutting down every thread meant to discuss the situation in the forums was just plain wrong.
This is the view I had when I set the EarthCache there….very cool!
Wow that is horrible. I can see why he ticked some folks off.
I have seen examples where owners were following the rules and rightfully deleted a log from a non-compliant logger only to have the log reinstated by Groundspeak when that individual complained loudly enough. The most recent of these cases was to me a black and white case; the person failed to fulfill the logging requirements and the cacheowner did the right thing by deleting the log…didn’t matter. Since that day I have lost respect for groundspeak and lost interest in developing new ECs.
I had a former poster to these forums log one of my caches a few months ago…he sent incorrect answers and included no picture (which was not an ALR). He logged other nearby ECS the same way…I let it stand because I figured he’d be more trouble than I felt deleting his log would be worth.
Cav Scout stuck to his guns and got a one year ban and all his ECs archived….maybe he was out of line, who knows. What I do know is that people are not allowed to talk about it over at the Groundspeak pool.
😥
Thanks for the link Zuma. That adds some more perspective to the situation. It does not however change my feelings about Groundspeak’s heavy-handedness in closing the forum discussions down.
…other than Angry Birds?
Just stay away from all the build your own city/zoo/farm/zombie garden apps and you will be OK.@cheezehead wrote:

Also I wonder where they are getting the caches already on the system from??? Look at the date this cache was listed:

It looks like you can add caches from GC to the site. YOU can transfer EVERYTHING over. Or so it seems
To list mine I used the IMPORT feature and uploaded a GPX of my GC listed geocache. I did have to make edits though the import included only the most basic information (and no cache description). The GC number has also been kept intact as the ID number with the “GC” stripped and an “OX” put in it’s place. But mine submitted today has the current date on it.
