The text is now in German: “Bald auch unter einem Baumstumpf in deiner Nähe: Kostenlos, offen, in deiner Sprache!”
and translates to:
“Soon, under a tree stump near you: Free, open, in your language!”
What does it mean?
Apparently they have hidden something under a tree stump near my home…I sure hope it’s a new Nuvi…I really want a Nuvi.
Kidding aside, I do plan to use the Garmin site should it become a reality. GC placements have become too constrictive for new placements. I’m not a huge fan of the proximity limitations imposed by GC.
Crap I so want to bring up the TSA…
I think that many of us have that one flight story…I do as well. But after taking over a dozen cross country flights in the past 7 years I have to say that flying these days is much like taking a bus.
In reality though many of our flight scares were well under control by the powers that be….we just don’t get all the information we need to come to that comforting conclusion on our own.
Besides, if you have the means, you should explore your planet! Life is too short not to live it to your full capacity. We as a group are explorers; what a tragedy for us not to do what we love.
Also a couple of Diazepam can easily be obtained from his Dr. and those should relieve any flight anxiety he has. Diazepam is often used by those with severe flight anxiety.

I tried checking it out once, but was turned off by the sponsorship requirement as well as the “need to find so many so often to stay a member” clause. I just don’t cache that frequently and there really didn’t seem to be many in the area, so I just moved on.
Agreed. The requirements were lame and we were clearly not the only folks who thought so.
I’m shocked it “lasted” as long as it did.

Worked great, and the coords were spot on used this cache for our 2900 find.
Thanks for putting it out, It was very cold on Friday when we were in the area but still happened to get a 50 find day
This cache has had a slow start but that’s OK with me…I like having something a bit different out there. Back when I started it was easier to have original hides…today, not so much.
I visited and updated the container shortly after your visit.

There is a radius though I’m not sure what it is…sorting by name rather than proximity should let you see all the caches….or simply scroll on the units map until you are in the area (Texas) and then you will zoom in and see if they are listed on your map.

Thanks all. On this same note, how does the searching etiquette apply at group events or mega events when multiple groups or people are searching for the same cache? Is it a race to get it, or a casual laid back type atmosphere? We haven’t been to any group events yet, so just curious.
It all depends on the folks you run into and the size of the event…at the largest events pretty much everyone at GZ searches and once the cache has been found the group is informed and the cache log is passed around…normally (but not always) the original finder replaces the cache or tells the log holder exactly where it was found.
…and yes in your original scenario, the proper thing to do (at least in my eyes), is to have co-FTF. After a thousand or so finds I stopped going after FTFs…that and the fact that those darn Black Belts always beat me to them anyway.

My initial impression of the Chirp was that it was like a Wherigo but with a physical beacon rather than a coordinate based hotspot. I wonder now if the reason for the Chirp is that Garmin cannot promote Wherigo as that belongs to Groundspeak….but like you say Zuma, at this point it is all speculation.
