He he LB7, you don’t cache with Trekkin! Mine is paperless as well, but he usually wants all the details after we don’t come up with the find right away. Since I hold the Oregon, I’ll start scrolling through and by the time I have the info he wants, he’s found the cache. I think it’s his sneaky way to ensure that he finds most of them. 🙄
I do have a habit of reading a cache page before I log it, though. I’ll upload the field notes, but I do like to check and see if there’s anything I should consider when writing the log. I enjoy writing the logs and I understand not everyone does. For the cache I shared, I thought it made for a nice reminder; he doesn’t do this with all his cache listings.
I used to write original logs for every cache but these days I only write original logs for exceptional caches or ones that are in need of care. This is mostly because I only get out a few days and when I do I hit like 30 at a time…and of late on bike trails where there is no real expectation of original logs….
With paperless on my GPS I maybe look at one cache page in a hundred.
The snow killed any plans for caching. Was hoping to get some nice numbers in this week but that plan is now kaput. My boy turns 16 on Thursday…but if it wasn’t Thanksgiving I’m sure he’d spend the day AWAY from his family….so I’m glad for the holiday.
I looked through my caches and surprisingly I have 4 of a mile or more…(but all are under 2 miles).

Happy Geoversary! I remember my first lamppost cache. I was stumped! It took three trips to Wisconsin Rapids before I figured out where it was. I was so impressed I went back to Marshfield and placed one.
I saw my first one in New Jersey…I thought it was brilliant….ya not so much anymore.
We are 9 years on Halloween (first cache Sunday, 31 October 2004). I have the same observations as you but I’ll add one more:
100 caches was a big year not a big day.
Ah yes. It was funny and I’m glad to see it is still here to haunt them.

No frost this morning; no craphas, either.
What is the etymology of that idiom? Can’t recall….I remember the post but not who make it.
I took my newish 17 footer out to Ottawa Lake last month to practice rolls (which I haven’t done in years) and open water entrys. I was OK with the open water entrys but could only successfully manage about 6 of 10 rolls….not a very good average. I’m out of practice on what is a necessary skill. While I’ve been paddling for about 15 years I know I’m not skilled enough for big lakes even with a more expensive (and appropriate) craft.
As far as inflatable kayaks go, they have their place and so long as you respect their limitations they should be OK.
33 degrees here in Oconomowoc this morning. Had to get out the old ice scraper.

Most of this week will be enjoyed stalking our grandkids on FB now that they are back in school. First day of kindergarten for Ryan, first day of HS for Evan and first time driving to HS for Emma.
+1
It’s no secret that I thought the whole 31 days thing was stupid and watered down the coolness of souvenirs. Besides for me to have done this would have cost me about $80 in gasoline; I’m not in a cache dense area.
Assuming I found every cache on the first attempt, doing the closest caches to me would have me driving 418 miles (round trip) and burning about 21 gallons of gas….not worth it to chase down watered down icons.

Pennsylvania 1I agree…more events after the event is a MUST. I went to Midwest Geobash several years ago and they had one event after the main event was done for the day….you could not even walk in the lobby much less enjoy the post event. I applaud BQ for having the foresight to create a published event after the bash…We need at least two or three destinations post bash.
Good point on the proxcimity issue Ldove…
Didn’t mean to bash a hider. I thought my point about the Newberg placement was a legitimate observation.
