Grinding a bit of an axe here…one trail which has just a couple of geocaches is one of the longest bike trails in the state, the Glacial Drumlin Trail from Waukesha to Madison. I’d have placed some along that trail myself but you need a trail pass ($) to use a bike on it…sorry, but there is no way I’m paying to ride my bike on a rails to trails route.

There is also the Omaha bike trail near I-94 at Camp Douglas.

Great fun on this one….and about 50 caches.

This trail is actually called the Wildwood.

YA I got that with Zuma’s post…I don’t recall if you have a Mtn. bike or not? If so this is a great path for it…(even a multi-track bike would be OK). It is crushed limestone so I wouldn’t take your road bike on it. The last mile in particular has a REALLY rough segment. Here’s a pic of one of the water crossings I traversed last time I was out there. There is only pavement in a couple of spots (like this one).

I hate to be Captain Obvious, but how about parking at the next road crossing to the east? That is where we parked for Collectibles Cache.

    Thanks Captain.

I will look into that location for parking if you have rough coords…I just read you log for “collectables” and it looks like the trails wander all over the place from that parking area making it tough to get to GZ.

Is that a designated parking area? The IAT folks are fairly picky about making sure all rules of caching / parking are followed. If I don’t have my I’s dotted they will yank the “IATCC” designation from my listing.

Look up Cemented in Wisconsin virtual…gotta be on the list.

I just placed one at the Stone Elephant a couple of days ago…it’s in the book.

Oh did I forget to mention it is a 3.6 mile hike to an EarthCache….. 😈

You know, Gary, it is only 3.6 miles if you use your parking coordinates.

Yes….I could never get an answer as to where those other mystery parking coords were. If they are at the John Muir parking area I’d rather folks walk longer than get run down by bikers….My IAT maps did not show another good entry either and the Google maps view was sketchy as well. If you know a safe non-biking trail access with good parking, I’m all ears.

WTG…and I know a lot of those finds were really good hides at great locations.

[Actually, got out lawnchairs, and sat in the road for a while! No traffic.

Dah… do we dare ask why? :>

    Sure, why not ……

On a botany expedition, and we were browsing different manuals looking up what species we were finding along the road.

LOL…I was wondering that myself. Thanks for the answer.

I think following kbraband’s example and requiring folks to get permission for these listings prior to publishing the cache is the best way to approach this. My feeling is that VERY FEW of these listings would get approved as local leaders would not see these roundabouts as playgrounds like some cachers seem to think they are. I would be willing to retract my BAN THEM vote provided explicit permission was gotten from the proper government officials for EVERY listing.
