…As far as reception, my gut feeling is that the 60CSx is stronger under cover…
This is the same for me…kinda a gut feeling though I’m guessing there is an actual basis in fact. I found 1,500 with my Map60Cx and about 200 or so with the Oregon and the Oregon just doesn’t “feel” as accurate.
There is talk about the 500 version of the Oregon (which also includes a camera) having a better electronic compass and possibly being a bit more accurate as well…
…anyone wanna buy a relatively new 300?
As far as I’m concerned the GPS60 series is still Garmin’s best, most accurate unit….
As far as accidental bumping, yes that can happen and does from time to time…not a big deal though and there is a quick two button click to lock the screen to protect from that happening.
Screen durability seems OK though most folks I hear from use a screen cover to protect from scratches.

BUMP!
Just two questions here–
1. How does the Oregon do in TREE COVER – and any comparison to the other series?
2. For those experienced with the Oregon, which model would you purchase and why? Assume cost is not a factor. Well of course it is, but assume it is not!
Thanks!!!
The 300 I have seems to work fine under tree cover…almost as well as the GPS60. I have lost signal a couple of times with it on the road…that has never happened to me with the GPS60.
I’m fine with the 300…there is no difference between it and the 400s save the maps installed.

Found a few caches by accident while searching for hiding spots. At least a half dozen letterboxes, some as close as 5′ to geocaches.
Oh I forgot about the one by your cache…make that 5 letterboxes I found by accident…not counting the two that moved to within 15 feet of one of my caches (which I archived due in part to that reason).

one letterbox.
Hollow stump right next to the trail. I thought that wold be a great place for a geocache and found the letterbox when I looked in. Signed the log and hid it a little better.
Few days later I tried to look it up on the letterboxing site and coldn’t find it.
A lot of the time when you cannot find them online they are mystery letterboxes…3 of the 4 I found were mystery letterboxes (Wizard of Oz Series).
…and like you I looked in those places cuz they would be a good spot for a geocache to be placed.
One geocache and 4 letterboxes.
I guess geocachers hide their stuff better…
There is a recent thread abut this somewhere…..
Here is a book mark of them from ThePharmGirl

LOL…I still haven’t gotten it into the water with my wife…I’ll be sure to report back should I survive the experience.
I know exactly what it is like….

Be careful. Two-person kayaks are also known as divorce boats.
(Not that I would know anything about that.)My wife and I tried rowing a canoe once…….ONCE. I’m hoping for better cooperation this time out with the kayak….I tried the new kayak with each of the kids and it seems like the kayak is way easier to paddle with another person than a canoe is…..ya know come to think of it my wife and I don’t get along very well on the tandem bike either, while I don’t seem to have any trouble with the kids……
I had one set up on the Oconomowoc River several years ago but archived it after it went missing. I actually emailed one of the reviewers about setting up some river / lake caches this morning. If I end up setting them out I will let ya know on this thread.
