    Good article.
I love that website. I go there from time to time for background information on various ECs I publish.

So many to choose from but one of my favorites was when I pulled into a small rustic parking lot in winter…even before I did it I knew it was a bad idea. I of course immediately got stuck. I tried and tried to get out of the lot wedging everything and anything I could find under the tires for traction…no luck. I finally gave up and tried to get help by flagging down cars. The only one who stopped was a car with three people in it…two women in their late 60s and a man who was easily 10 years older than them. The man was going to help me push the car out but I insisted he drive it…….OK so myself and the two women in their 60s pushed my car out as the man drove the car. Wow was I embarrassed.

I never did go after the cache….

Thanks for all the hides; you more than make up for many the folks who seek but do not hide….and for those of us who have slowed down in both areas. Thanks for giving me a destination time and time again.

    This park has (finally) reopened.

Parfrey’s Glen State Natural Area (No. 1) GC1A9G5

I have made some adjustments to the reqs so if anyone is going for a visit please provide feedback about changes which should be made to both questions and coords (get coords if those need to be changed please).

Congrats to those who won. Did you use an old dungeons and dragons dice? :>

I may or may not still have several sets of those around the house (and the clear smoke colored ones may or may not be my favorites)…but no I let the ol’ RED powerball pick for me….which BTW is at about $190 Million at the moment.

in reply to: New cache along a route App #1908123

There are lots of variables to play with like how far from the road you wash to include plus all the normal Pocket Query options. I tried on last night and it was FANTASTIC. The only drawback I found was that you can’t go further than 500 miles….no biggie though.

WHERE?!?! I can’t find it? Is it for the iPhone? I HOPE SO!!!

No perhaps App was a bad choise of words. It is a new version of “caches along a route” which can be found on your GC home page. I think it is a members only function?

The winning number is 6 so Cache_boppin_BunnyFuFu gets first choice followed by lone_gunman, seldom|seen, uws22 and benny7210 in that order.

I’ll PM each of you asking your choice. Thanks.

Please count me in also. The lime kilns in Iowa are what I’m most interested in, but would happily take any of them. I hope my number comes up!
    L McG is me

That is at a cool location not too far away from lots of caves.

As it stands right now everyone will have 4 numbers but that could still change. Cut off for sign up is 6pm tonite.

I got a reply from [email protected] about claiming an adopted EarthCache as a pin requirement and here is there reply:

“You can only claim EarthCaches you have developed for the Masters Pin program. “

Looks like I have my work cut out for me to get to the next level.

So are you still interested or did you want to take yourself out of the drawing?

I do know that they are getting much more stringent about EarthCache listings, too.

This is totally true. Getting an EC listed today is WAY harder than it was even 1 year ago. That’s fine with me though…quality not quantity.

I would never archive an EC…way too much work goes into them to archive them…I may still give a couple more away in the future but there are a few that are too special to let go…my meteor impact site for example will not be on the block anytime soon…nor will my waterfall EC or the natural arch for that matter…

I’m glad there is some interest in the listings.

It’s a testament to the time and effort you put into creating your Earthcaches and the knowledge of what it takes to get one of them published via Earthcache.com. Anyone whose been through the process knows that it is not as easy as publishing in GC.com. That alone makes adopting a well crafted EC look very attractive and I’m not surprised in the least by the interest in yours!

I tried getting one published for the Campout, but had to shelve it since it wasn’t significantly geocentric and had more to do with the burial mounds than local geology. I have to turn the tables a bit and now I have to re-submit the whole thing unlike GC.com where I could simply edit the content. See, not as easy as…

So, I’m hoping my number comes up,but if it doesn’t I’ve still got plenty of EC ideas to bring to fruition. (fingers crossed)

Thanks for the kind words…as for your cache I know you have been working on it for some time now. Just remember it is all about how you spin the information. You can write about just about anything if you spin it correctly. There is lots of information out there about the Escarpment that I didn’t use…perhaps you could even write about the formation of the lake below or the soil atop the bluffs….I’m sure Geoaware asked you to explain why they built the mounds there…what was important about the material or location and how it relates to geology…ya just gotta figure out the correct angle.
