OK. I see there are more requesters than ECs so this is how it will work. I will use Wednesdays RED Powerball number as the designated number.

Those with the numbers closest to it will get one of the listings….I will assign the numbers divided as evenly as possible. As 39 is not an even number, I will likely short the last respondent of an even shot. The numbers assigned will correspond to the order in which they have posted a request, so Lone_gunmen will get number 1 to ?. I’ll set out the numbers on Wed evening pre-drawing (6pm). In the event of a tie I will add one more surprise listing to the pot. One listing per person.

The closest will get to choose a listing first, next closest will get the next choice and so on until the the listings are gone. I will contact each person telling them what is left and ask them what their pick is….I hope that seems fair.

I’m glad there is some interest in the listings.

None are spoken for until Wednesday night. I will deal em out at that time (in as fair a way as possible).

Will an adoption count towards ranking? I need to place one in order to get to the next Medal level.

If it will count, I’d be happy to take one.

I would think so…but you might want to throw the question at Geoaware.

Just a further note…who gets what will be determined by lotto if there is interest in the same feature by more than one party.

No need for a personal attack, Lostby7.

There was no intent at a personal attack…just pointing out that if the government banned smoking altogeather that would be a stupid move on their part. I’m sorry if you took that comment as an attack. As I’m a big fan of anything that reduces cancer this is a hot topic for me and I may not have phraised my comment very well.

Same here. I avoid smoking permitted establishments. There is a George Web that went smoke free about a year ago. I went to it twice before that happened. Since the smokers got the boot my daughter and I have been there almost weekly.

And as for making smoking illegal, that’s just stupid. Outlaw it and organized crime will just show up…anyone recall prohibition? Limiting the areas where it is allowed is a much better solution. Smoking is a nasty habit and I’m glad I will be seeing less of it in the future. I’m looking forward to another $1 a pack tax increase too (and hopefully it won’t get to a point of profitability for criminals to steal and deal the product…well more than they do already).

This is one “right” I’m thrilled to be giving up.

If only I could say all the ones of Marc’s I looked for and didn’t find were missing… 😳

Come on team ZigZagNuts – nobody gonna do it?? 😥 I will go if I don’t have to run for anything, that job we save for Gary… 😀 I am feeling better now (knock on wood) so I could be a navigator, driver or cheerleader.

I’d be in for a second attempt and would let you drive instead of me Laurell… I think I got out of the car maybe two or three times last time and did no running. 🙂

I think I’m going to take a pass on this…I’m afraid my asthma is pretty bad at the moment. It took me almost two days to recover from a 30 mile bike ride…I need to get a new inhaler also as mine is WAY expired…and since I’m such a slacker I haven’t gotten around to calling the Dr. about it.

The grab bag is the top 250 TEAMS, so you’re still safe. For MEGA status, we need 500 PEOPLE. And yes, it is currently just over 400 people from the Will Attend logs. I’m not sure how many are registered through the chamber, so the number might be higher.

But unless they get registered on GC those numbers from the chamber do not matter correct?

Cut and paste logs on my EarthCaches!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the view and learning about the feature; it only took me about 20 hours to write up each listing…but don’t trouble yourself about taking a few extra keystrokes to tell me about your visit.

in reply to: Help with logging requirements #1907047

    Thanks for the props Marc….

The guidelines have shifted over time about what is and is not allowed for logging requirements but ideally you should have a question that shows that the visitor has learned something based on the unique geology of the location.

The verification questions are not always easy to come up with. When I create a listing I normally try to ask questions based on the geology of the area AND also a site specific verification question such as information from a sign. The reason the reviewers don’t want information solely from a sign is because sign information can be Googled.

I will say though, I have seen a couple of listings with information based solely on the signs located there and it leaves me scratching my head because from everything I have read that (as the only source of visit verification) should not be allowed…

…long story short, come up with a question based on the geology of the area…if you need help drop me a PM and I can see if I can help you come up with a question.

COTM is pointless plain and simple.

So how does it log a log? Is it a generic log? I’m just trying to learn about it is all.

Basically you select found or not found on the unit and it stores that information in a file on the unit. You have the option to add notes to each cache when you mark it as found (or not found) though the number of characters is pretty small. I find that just adding a few words will spark the ol memory to get a decent log later on GC.

Next, you plug the unit into your computer and select the access field notes link on GC, follow the directions, and then the unit will upload information to GC. A webpage will appear which provides a hyperlink to each cache you marked as found (or not found). You just follow the link(s) and you will be brought right to the box on the cache page where you would write your comments. The box will be selected for you as found (or not found) and any comments you wrote on the unit will show up in the comments box on GC. You can now just hit submit or edit the comments to make them more coherent. I hope that makes sence.
