Sounds like nice idea, but I have already done most of the Earth cache in that area.

I have done several of those as well; there are some nice ECs there. It would be a nice trip.

I have one cache which went “missing” so I replaced it….six months or so later the original cache was found again….now there are two caches on site. I listed them both on the page with a hint for each…no one has attempted to remove one (not that they would as they are both referenced on the cache page) and no one has logged both of them at once, though I would not delete such a log.

I have only had one cache replaced by a fellow cacher….he let me know in an email after he did it. I was very grateful. I have emailed an owner about replacing one of his missing caches as well BEFORE I did it….but he did not get back to me soon enough while I was still in the area on vacation so I left his container missing and did not set a new container up for him….I lost out on a find and he lost out on a free maintenance check/replacement.

Yes, I think an owner should be contacted first but hey if some one wants to error on the side of caution with one of my caches so be it…I can always go pick up the cache if it is a problem.

Where is that pesky group photo?

It just never seems to get too old for some folks…but on the plus side I sure do love to see this cool gif from time to time so it’s not all bad.

    in reply to: Dogs? #1895907

I have brought my dog to the park several times…there are always dogs on trail…..I’d say the park is pretty dog friendly…just keep your pooch on a leash….but that said with rain in the forecast you may need to find somewhere to shelter Scooter.

in reply to: Need a "Cacher Friendly" sign #1895881

yep, the easiest way is to just state boldly on the cache page that this cache is located on private property and that PERMISSION IS GRANTED for it placement. I think once that is done even smallish signs would be adequate.

good for you for stopping by. I hope to see you at the event….now if I could only get that guy who was screaming obscenities at me today (while I was at Lapham Peak doing cache checks) to pop on here and apologize to me….I don’t think I will hold my breath though.

I made several new cards…and went to place them today…It took me 10 minutes to find stage two and it was no longer where I put it it had migrated to a whole other place…it took me 20 minutes to find stage one…it too had migrated to a much more difficult spot. Frustrating to say the least. But it is good to go now…..

Another of my new caches at the park was also moved to make it harder…but I like the placement so I guess I cannot complain about that one…the coords aren’t quite as tight now but it’s still within 20 feet….

I too have some work ahead of me to check all my pages for uniformity.

As a writer who constantly has to deal with companies insisting on unusual formatting (no upper case, all upper case, some italics, all italics, etc…)…

All I can say is “good luck with that.” Geoaware better be willing to take it upon themselves to monitor all the listings after they are published. (Yes, listings go there first, but there is a lot of owner cleanup that occurs after the adoption is made.)

I’m not sure how firmly they will enforce this wish….but I agree there is tons of editing after publication….though by their guidelines there is to be only minor changes to the listings once published. Again, how much control do they have over those changes?

I just thought I’d post this here…for future writeups.

ahh, you did not correctly represent EarthCache in your advertising message. I’m going to have to ask you to correct that before Friday.

    Crap…. 😳

This cache that I’m thinking of placing will be the most complicated, most expensive cache I’ve ever placed. It won’t be a micro either. I can’t come back to cachign after a six month absence and place a pill bottle in the crotch of a tree, now can I? 😈

Be sure to share the listing when it goes live…..

Sorry dont know how to shrink it down to just the cache number.

This makes me feel good about placing it and makes placing geocaches worthwhile. Its also amazing that its a backyard cache. Hehe 😀

All you need to do is post the GC# and the website will hotlink it automatically.

I do so love a good log on one of my caches as well.
