Have fun and hide one for me…I’ll be thinkin bout ya as I’m weaving dangerously in and out of traffic in Madsville.

My thought on when a cacher “should” place a cache is never if they don’t want to. Can you imagine the crappy caches if cachers were obligated to place them?

I think Johnny Cache would just throw his “into the Sheen” along with that pesky (and incriminating) rifle.

How about on yet another flip side of this topic….by what point should a cacher have placed some caches? Granted, some like hiding more than finding, but what of the IDs that have over 1000 caches and no hides?

I haven’t found the perfect guard rail yet. 😆

    LOL…keep looking; it’s out there.

LOL….Now that IS a good question.

I like the Michigan one better, since you can not log a find on the cache UNLESS you have 100 DNFs to your name.

    Hmmmmm…… maybe

I do as well…and was thinking the same thing…there is always room for one more puzzle cache….

Member since ’07? No cache activity–is that b/c he/she/it is a banned member now, or b/c this was probably set up as a phantom account?

Same thing in this area, archived notes posted on stuff w/o reading what has already been posted. Can cache owners just delete these logs?

I did…but they are always attached to the cache…just invisible to normal folks (reviewers still see them and are notified when they are posted).

And then there are those cache owners who delete your DNF logs…..

    😡

    Bec

We have not run up against that yet. What would the purpose of that possibly be?

I requested they fix their bad coords and they got mad. The owner sent me an email telling me I had no business putting a “Needs Maintenance” log on their cache (even though of the 40 finds 30 of them mentioned in the log how bad the coords were), then the owner deleted both my needs maintenance log and then deleted Becs DNF…. 🙄

This person also requested one of my caches be archived…some people are sad. I guess the person got tired of all the disabled caches in the area….they could have used their regular account however….some did need an “Needs Archive” log but lycoperdon didn’t pay much heed to the dates of the problem issues or circumstances…they just went hog wild creating logs and work for the reviewers….and now the account status is “Banned Member.”

Yep it was a super event, and I’m sure lots of folks hit milestones during it….Black Belts and I teamed up for 55 finds on the day (a record for both of our teams). We had time for lots more finds…but sometimes the body is just not willing to play nice…..I was very tired after chasing all around West Bend. I’m glad we took the time to meet and greet back at the park rather than trying to cram even more cache finds on the day.

We met so many new cachers and bumped into lots of folks we knew as well….a great time was had!

Thanks so much to Ecorangers, LDove, Pharmgirl, Jeremy and all the others who helped get this off the ground and just as importantly to run so smoothly….and congrats to all the finders of the magic 51 as well as the prize winners (including Pharmteam).

    Here’s one I looked for last week…. GC1F45B

The cache owner has found one cache and placed one….it now has three DNFs in a row and no finders.

Not ‘couldn’t make it’. I chose not to go. I figured there would be way too many people at all the cache sites, and was not interested ……

Surprisingly Black Belts and I only ran into teams at about 10 of the 55 caches we did….they did a pretty good job of spreading the caches out in the area…I think there were caches located as far as about 8 miles from the park in the surrounding countryside….and in bigger parks so that even where there were multiple geocachers there you often didn’t see them or saw them on a path walking elsewhere.

I have 117 listed and there are likely another 50 or so which I did not log because I gave up after walking to the site and seeing a major bushwhack or a swamp or….well you name it I was too lazy to do more than a cursory search.

I think it is getting close to 375, last meeting on wed was around 350 or so and some have signed up since.

I really would have guessed much higher….did you try and contact people who only submitted an “Will Attend” but did not list a number of attendees? Oh wait that is just something I would do ….(OCD ya know).

I have been looking forward to this event for months!!!!! I’m very excited to come and go on the hunt while running into many of the locals….looking at all the names of the attendees, it looks like a really great group of folks.

Do you have an approx head count??????
