Yuma Block Party was awesome! If you ever have an opportunity to attend in the future, it is worth the travel. Beautiful weather and lots of events and caches to keep you busy. I saw several Wisconsinites and Minnesotans there.

FTP for the 17th Getting things done outside before the deep freeze settles in. Will take down the outside holiday lights for sure. It’s alread 39 degrees Up North! Geez – another no snow winter is really hard on our winter sports activities and business, but not nearly as problematic as the California fires.

FTP for New Year’s Eve Day! Happy New Year! May you have a great year of caching. Time for a souvenir! Today and tomorrow.

I certainly would be coming “home” to relive my childhood if I did! I would have closer places to ski though just by going over to Ironwood/Hurley. Heading to Land o’ Lakes soon and bringing skis.

FTP for Friday the 20th. Our snow storm fizzled a bit with only 2 inches, less than half of what was predicted. The xc skiing is suffering quite a bit. As one of my friends quotes, “There’s enough snow to ski, but not enough to fall!” I’m buying into that as falling is not good right now. And then the long range forecast after Christmas shows rain with 40 degree temps. Another “yo-yo” winter weather season is what I’m calling it. Christmas Cookies are made, so I guess I just work on my weight and not work out on my skis.

Anyone else out there get this Geocaching message from this party? Their profile shows 0 geocaches or labs found. SCAM Alert???

FTP for the 7th and another cloudy morning Up North. The ground is covered with about 4 inches of snow in Washburn. But our area higher elevations have about 2x or more this amount. Our xc ski areas are opening up for sking with “rock skis.” The snow is definitely welcomed here for winter sports. I actually put out some holiday lights yesterday as I’m slowly getting into the Spirit of the Season. I might even sneak in a geotrip to the Twin Cities for a couple of days next week if the weather cooperates to get a few winter friendly hides.

FTP for the Voting Day of Nov. 5th I walked down to the city hall to vote early this morning, but the line was too long to wait outside and will return after 8 am. Good to see a robust turn out! Get out to Vote!!

FTP for the 29th No rain last night and a huge disappointment here as it’s dry Up North. The wild blueberries are drying up, but the orchards are in full swing for pick-your-own.

FTP for the 24th. for Northern Wisconsin, Wild blueberrries are great in the area of the Moquah Barrens and it looks like a good crop of raspberrries and blackberries will be next. Visits out thee give me a chance to double dip with cache maintenance! Lots of logging in the area after storms took down and damaged quite a few trees. Right now the spotted knotweed (terrible invasive) is blooming its purple flower and it’s easy to identify to rip it out!

FTP for the 13th Looks like two good caching days coming up.
