      FTF for the 12th of March Another sunny day at -6 this morning with a good windchill again. Went caching islands yesterday and the wind almost removed my nose!

          FTP for Friday the 4th I tried to find the ammo can I hid for the WGA State Park Series at Big Bay State Park yesterday. DNF’d it! but of course it is a non-winter friendly hide and the snow was mid-thigh in places. I just might go back out and try again this morning and then make it more winter friendly so I can find it next winter. Using the Ice Road to access Madeline Island right now while it’s open and before the weekend winter storm watch.

            FTP for the 24th It’s now Birkie Week and the snow has been a challenge for the organizers to pack and groom. They were using 6 piston-bully types of machines to groom. About 1000 skiers did the Open Track race yesterday. Today is the youth Barnebirkie, dog-ski jouring Barkie Birkie, with Friday the Korteloppet, and Saturday the Main Event of the Birkebeiner. Lots of things for the skiers!

              FTP for Wed. the 23rd It’s going to be a long couple of days, digging out from the 30+ inches of snow. Washburn made the national news with that storm total! Thanks Nancy! You’re unforgettable.

                FTP Dueces Wild! 2/22/22 Wild snow too. Washburn topped off at 21″ so far and 7-10 more on the way! My aching back 🙁 I cannot see any evidence of my snow removal efforts yesterday and now there are added drifts from the 20+mph winds gusting to 35. No break with this storm until Wednesday and then look out as more cold temps on the way.

                  FTP for Monday the 21st Holy crapas! there’s a bunch of snow out there already. NE winds will bring the hammer of lake affect snow with gusty winds. will try to shovel in shifts to stay ahead of it. Looking forward to another round tomorrow. May have to definitely make an adjustment to the Deuces Wild event.

                    FTP for Saturday the 19th The 25th Book Across the Bay is tonight, a xc ski/snowshoe/walk race/event from Ashland to Washburn tonight. The 10km path is lit by luminaries. The start is 6 pm and the festivities continue to midnight. Fireworks are about 7 pm.
                    Chilly night, but it should be a good one.

                          FTP for Monday Watched both Olympics and snippets of the Super Bowl. Happy to see Michael Stafford win the big one. It was also a joy to see the Bengals make their run to the bowl.
