Digging out from over 15″ of drifted snow here ‘Up North’ and still snowing with Lake snows along the South Shore. At least the blizzard wind has back off to not blow the snow back at me behind the machine this morning. It’s going to be a long day behind the snowthrower!

I found one of the ’08 geocoins at Geocoinfest in St. Louis a few years back. Scored it as a good price too. So Geocoinfest is another good source if you have time.

I’m having another Winter Picnic tomorrow afternoon to bask in the high 40’s temperatures. Drinking Green and eating golden grilled brats. Green and Gold of course!

Changes are great, but updates are necessary to keep alive and an accurate COTM. I just noticed the Winner’s Map is not updated. I doubled a March 2018 nomination for https://coord.info/GC6DHKV Here’s Lookin’ At You Kid in Mercer, WI. I doubled checked the map because I was sure it was a winner. So I nominated it again. Well, well, well — This was a winner in Nov 2016 so the winner’s map may be at least 1 1/2 years behind?
It’s far easier to look at the Winner’s Map to see the visual, at-a-glance, winner’s instead of scrolling through a long list of previous winners over the many years the COTM has been awarded.
Perhaps Update First as a priority before changes are made?

Example: This Northern February 2018 cache GC3N2KT “I Think Eye Spy a Monster” could have had this post as a note to put notice on the cache page of the nomination and the redirect to the WGA website:

John said great things. I would like to say, why not reduce the 5 regions to the now clearly defined 4 Quadrants? This would slightly reduce 5 to 4 regions and still give representation to the 2 Northern Quadrants. At least this would give conformity to how the state is divided into the regions for our definitions and COTM being the same. “Up North” with less dense population would be hurt with less than 4 regions for nominations and representation. The Wis State Park Series and rotation of the Campouts and Picnics to the 4 Quadrants have been “priceless in value” to create a “statewide caching experience” for all the WGA members. WGA is for the whole state and encouraging cachers to this experience, not just caching within 15 miles of their house!
I think over the last year the facebook posting emphasizing the COTM have been awesome. I have monitored the COTM nominations and there have been greater numbers. Continuing to post to the cache page that this particular cache has been nominated for COTM had slipped a bit. I think this is a good move to put notice to the cachers finding the nominees and the redirect to the WGA Website to vote for it. I hope this would continue. The posted winning banners are also a continued way to keep our WGA in the forefront and encourage others to hide caches. COTM is about promotion of cachers and encouragement to cache hiders and ultimately get the WGA out there for cachers to take notice.
Tweak it and Keep it!

The North is all about SNOW yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I’ll take snow over ice any day. Blowing here in Washburn with NE winds, so we have had about 7-8 inches so far and drifting with the wind. It’s nice to have the Olympics to watch while waiting for the snow and wind to stop!

I’ll be busy with volunteering from 10:30 am – 5 pm for the local Book Across the Bay Event of XC skiing, Snowshoeing, walking — across Chequamegon Bay from Ashland to Washburn, 10km, illuminated by 1000 ice candles. The 22nd Annual Event! In the past I’ve had events the day before and the day of, but not this year. Maybe next?
