Black River State Forest has 98 camping sites or which 14 have electric service. I have never been there before, but the pictures look like typical State Park/Forest campsites. Other info is:

Campground types

Campgrounds come in a number of different categories. On one end of the spectrum, the campground is very developed with paved walking paths and modern plumbing. On the other end it could merely be a previously cleared tent pad with no bathroom or drinking water amenities.- Modern campgrounds provide showers, flush toilets and running tap water.
- Rustic campgrounds provide only vault toilets and hand-pump wells for drinking water.
- Primitive or remote campsites are a diverse group that can include any combination of the following amenities:
- pit toilets;
- open air toilets;
- no toilets;
- hand-pump drinking water wells; and/or
- no drinking water access.

There are picnic facilities at all three campgrounds (Castle Mound, East Fork and Pigeon Creek). All have hand pumps for water, picnic tables, grills and pit toilets. Castle Mound and Pigeon Creek have playground equipment and are ADA accessible. Perry Creek and Oxbow Pond provide limited picnic facilities such as picnic tables and grills.
A log cabin shelter is available at the Castle Mound campground which includes a stone fireplace, electricity, tables and an outdoor cooking grill. It is reservable by contacting the property. RESERVED !!
For those who want to camp here is the camping blurb: Camping — The shower/flush toilet building and the dump station at Castle Mound campground are now closed for the season. Castle Mound and Pigeon Creek campgrounds are open on a first-come, first-serve basis with a limited number of sites plowed in each. East Fork campground and the Outdoor Group camp are closed until April 15th
All campgrounds have reservable campsites with Castle Mound on the reservation season from May 1 through the second weekend in October. East Fork and Pigeon Creek campgrounds are on the reservation season from the Thursday before Memorial weekend through Labor Day weekend. The outdoor group camp is on the reservation season from April 15 through November 30. The indoor group camp is on the reservation system year-round. Go online to make a reservation or call 888-947-2757, TTY 800-274-7275.

I use GSAK and have barely scratched the surface of its capabilities. I love the macros for meeting Challenge cache requirements.

I too have found drugs near a cache. However, we all need to be extremely cautious when out in remote areas if we find marijuana plants and especially large plots of them as these could have bobby traps and surveillance. We should consider these highly dangerous and remove ourselves immediately from the area and contact law enforcement. Large scale growing is common in our National Forests, State Forest, and County Forests due to their large tracts of land.

The “worms” are out! Kevin Fiend, Pattison State Park Superintendent, had just contacted me for the list of Geocaches in Pattison for inclusion in “The Visitor” newspaper of the Park. So I would think, he would be supportive to make the ideas of a Demo Park a reality for a Passport Idea or other Geocaching education project.
Another partner possibility are organizations such as: Trees for Tomorrow at Eagle River, Conserve School of Land O’Lakes, Cable Natural History Museum of Cable,, Great Lakes Northern Visitor’s Center of Ashland, TreeHaven of ?, etc. where there are usually Naturalists or Educators on Staff who may be interested in partnering with the WGA for geo-educational opportunities. I have worked with the Cable Natural History Museum and they have about 10 GPS units. Other organizations might have GPS units and therefore they may already have these capabilities in place.

Here’s an idea that would work with each of the State Parks where there is an existing WGA State Park Cache.
State Parks with coordination of the WGA could develop a Park Passport for let’s say, 10-20 the WGA member/sponsored caches with the park. The park office staff would verify all caches were found by the cacher providing their verification of finding the cache. The WGA would have an incentive for those who completed the passport book of caches. (mail a pathtag?) I’ll bring an example to the BOD meeting.

When does the Annual Meeting Agenda come out?

I look at “every cache” as a milestone along the walkway of geocaching! LOL Actually I made a boo-boo when reaching 2000 as I had “double logged a previous cache” which took away the one I really wanted for the 2,000th. This action just made the next milestone grab all the sweeter when I didn’t make the mistake twice!

Yes – a seminar, especially for GSAK related topics. How about encouragement to create a Geoart to spell out WGA somewhere in the state?

This needs to get out there as an Event! I’ll help as a BOD.

First of all, best wishes to all fellow nominees in this election. It is an honor to be nominated among such a talented group of people.
Secondly, the WGA belongs to all its members. The elected Board is charged with leading the WGA, but the real importance is still all the members who themselves participate and volunteer. To keep the organization vibrant and alive, to keep and attract new members will be important to me, whether elected or not.
Finally, thank you to those who wrote up all those challenging questions to the candidates and who assisted with the logistics of the election!

If needed (elected) I could make April 2-3 open.
