Hey what is it with golfballs? We find them out in the woods where it would take quite a swing to put them there…..LOL.

in reply to: Where were you on 9/11/01? #1747619

I was at work….at school. The principal came in and informed us. He decided our classrooms needed not to know. Our kids were kindergarteners and 1st graders. The principal did have the TV on in the library and would come and relieve us every once in awhile so we could see what was going on. I have a 1 to 1 medical needs child, who can’t be left alone. I only heard from the other teachers as to what was going on. It really hit me when my 12 y.o. daughter called me on the cell…crying, she had been getting ready for school at home and saw the second tower hit. She wanted me to come home. I couldn’t…. I felt very isolated and sad. We later had an assembly for the school and the principal did a great job of explaining a very scary moment in time. We had parents coming to school and taking their children home. The flag was half mast immediately after the 2nd crash. Sadness prevailed all over that school. We ended the assembly singing “I’m proud to be an American”. I must say the most poignant moment for me was much later when I saw a plane in the sky…..after days of not seeing any planes over head. It really hit me how much all of our lives changed that day. I cried one more time for all those lives lost and all those who loved them. We went caching on the anniversary. We kept it low key. We wanted to go on with our lives to show we have not let it demoralize us or scare us. At school last Friday, the principal had a moment of silence and encouraged the children to honor those who died that day. The flag was again at half mast.

Yipee….I went to Gander Mountain in Rockford Ill., with the ad. I got 2 Etrex
GPSRs….. the price was 104.99. They took off 50.00 for each one. I ended up paying 117.96 including tax for both units. The manager asked me if I was a geocacher. I said yes why? He said “Just kinda figured that.” He had the ad in his hand and went in the back to get the units….I think also to copy the ad. He was smiling, but looked a little green around the gills. I’m happy that I got this deal. Thanks for the heads up. Lucy

in reply to: Cachew John passes the 800 mark! #1755556

Congratulations John. We are sorry not to have been there to see you achieve your latest benchmark (pardon the pun). But it was great TEAM BADGER was there to celebrate it with you. It’s always a pleasure to walk with you and tell a few jokes along the way. As Tishman would say Drive on….Lucy and Tishman

in reply to: geocaching & insomnia — a bad combination? #1747511

I certainly do. I even log and read other logs of cachers I’ve met along the way. Tishman is also guilty of this, course it could be that the two teens in the house are usually on during peak hours….nah…we could kick them off. It’s the insomnia thing….hmmm…could checking out caches be the root of insomnia. Nah….then it would be an obsession….LOL. I personally like insomnia, it let’s me do those important cache planning moments…. …er hours.

in reply to: Post a note for Alan of Cache Cows #1755515

Hope things improve for you. Caching is actually a great therapy for the joints. Just be careful and use common sense. No bushwacking or jumping off cliffs for a while…LOL. As a wise man told me stay on the trail as log as you can and you’ll still get there. Great adventures await you just down the trail. Happy Caching. Lucy and Tishman.

Another great event by WGA. Thanks for the chance to cache socialize and connect with people. Even if I’m a flatlander you always make Tishman and I feel welcome. Thanks again for a wonderful event. Kudos to the organizers and voluteers….your efforts were not unnoticed.
