Actually, I brought it up on another thread, but I looked and couldn’t find another page dedicated to this topic. If I missed it, sorry…post the link and I’ll move my comments there. If this is the first page for the topic…I’m leaving it.

Thought Brew put out another cache for a minute there…nope!
If you stare at it with crossed eyes you get a headache.
If you stare at it with crossed eys while drinking a beer your headache goes away.
If you stare at it while singing the State Song, dogs come running from all over WI…wait, maybe that’s just when I sing.
MBOkay people…you’re missing the point! The point is not that that the tags are there, the point is that they are there WITHOUT mentioning who owns the bug! If you read my original post completely, before getting knickers in a twist, you would have known what I meant. So let’s try parts of this again. I deleted the parts that may be confusing to those missing the point. **PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE LAST SENTENCE OF THE QUOTE**

…They make a cute little tag listing the goals of the bug, then on the back they put THEIR name. This is not what I have a problem with. What annoys me is that no where on the tag do they place the name of the owner of the bug. WHY NOT? While it may help the bug travel in the proper direction, I think it’s rude. Yes, I know the tags show that the “tag” was created by the listed party, but don’t you think you could find room somewhere on the tag to show who actually OWNS the bug?…If the intention of the “created” tag is to help the bug move, then great…go tags!…
In my opinion, IF YOU CAN’T LIST THE OWNER, YOU SHOULDN’T MAKE THE TAG!
MajorBrat
See? I’m not annoyed that the tags are there, I’m annoyed that they don’t list the owner of the bug, but list the maker of the tag. I noted that they may help send the bug in the correct direction. I’m just saying that if a tag “creator” can find space for their own name, why can’t they manage a line to show who actually owns the bug?
In reference to my not contacting the maker of such tags, why should I? I’m not pointing any fingers, or mentioning any names. I’m speaking in general terms about something that annoys me. I’m not attacking any one person, I’m giving the pros and cons as I see them. I know there is more than one person doing this. If someone takes offense to it…well…maybe it’s because they see themselves in my description of the situation.
As for the coins, besides the mentioned drilling, there is another way. Check out WISearcher’s social coin next time you’re at an event. It was wrapped in cellophane then laminated. As was the bug goal page (complete with owner’s name, release date, and no tag creator name). Both items were then put on a key ring and dropped into an event.
So before you get all upset, try reading the text completely, and don’t take it out of context! If you do this, feel free to voice your opinion…good, bad, or indifferent! I can take it!
MajorBrat
Is there a link for this event yet? I’ve been working and haven’t been on much lately.

Okay…so I’ve tried to stay quiet…yes, me…I really did! I can’t take it anymore!
Why am I seeing something about this coin on EVERY forum page I look at? What happened to posting on one forum per subject? Many other people have have their hands slapped for doing the same thing, over what thye thought were important subjects too.
While I agree that our having the best coin possible is important…I disagree with flooding the forums with info about it. If people want to vote, they will vote. It isn’t necessary to “shove” it down our throats.
My opinion…

…and all you have to do to find it is follow that 12 inch spread called a path…what the grass and brush doesn’t take from you on the way in, and the skeeters don’t enjoy while you hunt, the grass will take on the way out!
Glad to see this got settled early. As I was reading, I too was wondering why you were being charged to use the shelter.
Let us know if you can use some help.
This will actually be an average day for a caching excursion. We only have to buy one tank of gas and no stops at Culver’s. The water will cost around $10, our own lunches about the same, and with our normal $20+ donation to the box…that puts us at about $65 for the day. Plus when we consider the time we get to visit w/ friends…
(ps…no orange cone is necessary for us. We’ll just park in the grass next to the front porch!)quote:

It has been my impression that this type of ‘talk radio’ thrives on misinformation. It is fed by listener feedback, especially negative feedback. The more negative feedback an announcer gets, the more effective he/she is.
So, if negative emails are sent, each one counts as a listener.
I don’t think anyone posting so far wants to mail the negative…I think we all want to explain geocaching properly. That way they can make an informed opinion.
Dan sounds like he wants to know more so…
Wow! Nice job Jeff! Perhaps someone needs to invite Dan on an adventure…he seems interested. I think they could both use a copy of the news report Rhonda and John did, perhaps it would shed some light on the fun of caching. I agree w/ Russ about the emails…I’m in…when do we start and to what address Russ?
As for the Waukesha thing…I did a basic search of WI, then Waukesha City and it shows 3332 hides. There were 167 pages. I didn’t look at them to see how far out they went, but I could see how one would think they were all right in Waukesha.
Hey Jeff, where is the station located? Maybe we should see what’s hidden around them. If there’s nothing there we should put one out and have them find it.
