Meaningless comment? No one has a meaningless comment. It may not be what anyone else wants to hear/read, but if someone says it, it means something…at least to that person!!!
Though my message did reappear after I posted it was missing, I’m glad to know that it does happen to other people besides Bob & I. (Not glad your message is missing…just that we’re not alone in what’s happening) They’ll get the kinks worked out eventually.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe one of the reasons we register for the picnic in advance is to alleviate this as a problem. With everyone registering online, the commitee can see how many people will be attending and print accordingly. I’m sure they do a few extra just in case someone has a change of plans and registers there.
As for the cost of putting on the event, the WGA graciously accepts donations from anyone wishing to contribute. There is always a box to drop $$$ in at a WGA function. These funds help defer some of the expense.
Just think how great it would be if every PERSON (not team, not family) seeking the caches were to put a single dollar in the box…yippee!…yes people, this is a challenge. If we support our WGA on a financial level now, we may be able to keep it running on donations instead of a monthly/yearly fee like some other geo associations that I know.

Thanks! The first event I remember having an early coordinate release was the one that Team Badger did last year @ New Glarus. I believe it was suggested by our logistics officer and the rest of the command supported his idea. There were a couple of people who felt the need to do a search before the event started (there are always a couple who have to buck the system), but most waited for the bell to ring before jumping on the trails.

So…thanks again for the note and I’ll just wait for Saturday to get my coordinates!

As for beeing lazy, I dont think so. I’ll input all day. Its just a convienence for us with the newer explorist that has programming problems, So whats the problem with solving a issue by asking the questions here. After I found out they will have a the neccessory programs available I backed off and said Thank you as stated a few up. So think you need to grow up with the “Laughing in my face” as people like you deffinately makes me think twice about comming to events to see such GOD people like you.

    *Side Note*
I do thank all the commity members for their hard work on this event and thank you for working on this issue to make things better and easier for the better kind of the WGA.

Thank you very much for only quoting a portion of my post. It’s important that attention is brought only to this part, and taken completely out of context! That way people can see how truly rude I really am (in case they were doubting that fact).

However, I think if you’re going to quote something I say, you should use my exact words. They were “…in your presence”…

“GOD people”…what the heck does that mean? Perhaps you should read my ENTIRE post again. It was a general statement and at no time attacked any one person or group, but thanks for drawing that attention to yourself. “GOD people”…
As for seeing me, you really don’t have to. There will be enough others there for you to enjoy spending time with. You really don’t have to see me at all. I however will be happy to see everyone in attendance…you included. (And ask anyone who knows me, I laugh at everything…all the time! Nothing is off limits!…Oh, and…the name is MajorBrat! I earned it!)

Given the location of this sighting, I too feel certain it was indeed wzbt03. Thanks for the note and keep up the good work Team Badger!

Gee, I guess I hit another sore spot because the reply I had to this post got deleted. Gotta love that censorship!
I think they just look for things in my posts that give them reason to remove them. One more reason I believe I’m making some people think!!! GO ME!
(ps…hopefully some underclassmen will see this before it’s deleted!)

Okay, I’ve been working a lot lately and have only had a few minutes here and there to get online. Today I have more time so I have something to say about this pre-load thing.
While I understand the desire of those who wish to load their GPSR’s early, I completely agree with the decision of the picnic commitee to keep the file to themselves until Saturday.
It makes me laugh to think that people are so worried about the “electronic” moment. What ever happened to the time of manual input? Have we become so lazy that we can’t sit for a few minutes and press a few buttons on our GPSR’s? C’mon people…get real! Stop relying so much on the dang computers and the search for the FTF and just go cache! Just because there is a file, doesn’t mean any of us has a right to it. The only thing we ARE required to receive is the numbers…but how that happens isn’t up to anyone but the picnic commitee. How is it that we can walk 10 miles in a day, but we can’t press buttons our GPSR’s?
How many events have gone on without ANYONE having a laptop to use for downloading files? Too many to mention. I’ve been to several!
We should be thankful for four basic things that I can think of:
    1)The event itself
    2)The people planning
    3)Those attending
4)The opportunity to even search for and log temporary hides

I’m sure there are other things that you can think of but this is my list. So lighten up, get off the backs of the planners, and pick up your cache listing page when you get there. (Any files available for electronic download are shared through the kindness of those supplying them.)

    ***NOTE***
If you absolutely can’t stand the thought of the manual input, let me know. I’ll do it for you! Or laugh about it in your presence!

But if you have to…why not get a group of people together and split the list, then you can each share what you decyphered…I mean, if it can be done while caching…oops, nevermind

I used to send them a note inquiring as to whether or not they know not to log their own find, and gently suggesting that they remove the log. I don’t do that anymore since I discovered there are some seasoned cachers who log not only their own caches, but caches they return to w/ a different group than the original one. I suppose it falls under the “to each his own” thing!

Me…I don’t log mine. I don’t log return visits. I don’t log a cache that wasn’t actually found in my presence. But that’s me.

VERY GOOD QUESTION!!! I personally am proud of ALL WGA MEMBERS for posting their opinions. And one thing that we need to remember is that no matter what we as WGA members say, ultimately the decision belongs to the board as they are the “official” owners of the cache page! At least some, if not all, are listening to what those who voted them onto the board are saying. Thanks to those of you who fit that note!
