We evaluated the grill today — heretofore named Grillzilla.
Looks like 60 pounds of charcoal will be a decent amount.

Oh Bec…we just love your animation! Bob and I always love reading your posts!

…I do have a dilemma. Some of the caches will be directly off of ATV trails and routes. Easily accessible by ATV but not necessarily by hiking. How should I address this issue?
If the cache is close to parking I would provide the coordinates for parking but what should I do if itΓ’β¬β’s a 5 mile hike down an ATV trail which is not technically open to hikers?Welcome to geocaching! Your questions aren’t that tough to answer. If you read the guidlines for cache placement you should be able to find what you need. The Reader’s Digest Condensed Version goes something like this (IMHO):
All you have to do is make sure you list that the trails are ATV trails. If foot traffic is allowed, just list the distance people will have to walk. If bikes are allowed, show that. Use the terrain ratings to show what the trails are like (rough, flat, soft, etc.). The distance doesn’t affect the terrain rating. This should be reflected in your description though…just so people know they’re in for a walk if they go. If the trails aren’t accessible on foot, the terrain rating has to be listed as a 5 star (due to the need of special equipment). When you submit your caches, the approver will let you know if they see an issue or something you need to fix about the hide. They’re a great group of guys and will work with you to get your caches listed for others to find. Good luck!

I have noticed more and more caches in the area where the coordinates are INTENTIONALLY set badly.
Key words: “in the area”

Ack! I step away from the boards for a few days and find I started a flame war. Sorry about that…
…A cache in Wisconsin…
…Numerous park shelter caches…
…In Indiana…
…Again in Indiana…
…In Tennessee…
Key words:
“A cache in WI”
“Numerous park shelter caches” (no “area” mentioned)
“In Indiana”
“Again in Indiana”
“In Tennessee”Sounds like the problems are elsewhere…not too many mentioned in WI. Also, if the caches are listed on GC.com, why not just tell everyone what the GC numbers are? It’s not like they’re private, or like people can’t just look at your GC profile to see which ones you’ve been to and are talking about.
That’s cool…thanks for the info. Let us know if you find out when it’s airing.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much tyedyeskyguy. There’s always going to be someone who disagrees with you anyhow. It really doesn’t matter if your numbers are exact or not. What you put on the cache page is rarely the same as what someone else gets on their GPSR when they reach the same location.
Bob and I took a peek at this series and want to get started on it when we return from vacation. No worries for us though, we have 4 GPSR’s…surely one of them will be right. π
MBLOL! That’s why we’re doing condo vacation! If we cache, we cache, if not…there’s always next year!
Seriously though…when’s the show going to be on tv?
If you cook them, they will come! Shoot, if nothing else, I’ll bet those helping set-up and do last minute things will eat. But as you see already, there are some ready and willing to pay up! Count us in!

It’s kind of a pain to be off of here for a while, only to return and find notes from people who think they’re better than the rest of us. In the instance you metioned, there’s nothing really to say. As for the rest of the so called “trend”…give me a break! I personally find it very hard to believe that people hide caches with the intentions of making seekers go to the wrong place. Trend…indeed!
Just imagine the pain to be attacked immediately by you once you do get back on.
Yeah, and I know what you’re thinking — I’m just saying what a lot of people are thinking.
Ouch! I guess you really put me in my place didn’t you? NOT! Perhaps the “attack” was done by you…to me! You really should get over yourself Diane! Try reading his post, then mine again…maybe you would understand why I said what I did. Oops…nevermind, I forgot that you don’t ever even try to understand my questions, or responses. I forgot that you just like to tell everyone how mean I am and how I like to attack everyone. Yep, you sure figured me out! (By the way, you may want to see Marc’s reply to what I said. He agrees with me…does that make him mean too?)
Oh yeah…I’m just saying what a lot of people are thinking too!
Okay, so I’ve been working a lot lately and haven’t had much time to get onine…I am wondering though, what in the heck is this really about? Rather than generalize your statement about the placement of several hides, shouldn’t you perhaps stop to think that there could be a problem with the GPSR that you’re using. When’s the last time you calibrated your unit? When was the last time that you walked with someone else who found your numbers to be exact? When was the last time you got a notice on one of your own hides that stated your co-ords to be exactly the same as those of the seeker? It’s kind of a pain to be off of here for a while, only to return and find notes from people who think they’re better than the rest of us. In the instance you metioned, there’s nothing really to say. As for the rest of the so called “trend”…give me a break! I personally find it very hard to believe that people hide caches with the intentions of making seekers go to the wrong place. Trend…indeed!
Gee Brian, it’s great to see you were on the trails again…even if it was just for a chance to be on television! π
Hope the day went well…any idea when the story will run?

ok, ok, I really want to know the details. Maybe I missed it, or maybe it’s not posted yet, but when is the campout going to be?
Gee…didn’t I see you throwing meat around at the camp-out? Geoff, Sara, help me out here…
Glad to know he took flowers and candy to someone! All I ever get is…well…whatever I want…NEVERMIND!
didn’t get any, but would love to see them…got any photos to post?
Hey! Way to go! Congrats and can’t wait to walk with you again! Next time…no swamp grass!
CB&MBThat’s cool Brian! It’s good that you’re posting so all your volunteers are able to view it!
