    THE FEE:
If in fact there were to be a fee option added to the WGA, I don’t think there would be any shortage of members paying up…whatever the collected funds were used for. Stickers, buttons, plastic forks…whatever.

If the concern is that some have more $ to give than others, then let us not worry about a fee. If $$ is available just continue to drop it in the “donation” box when it’s out. And yes, get the link up on this site for making donations.

Cash is not the only way we can assist the WGA. We can also go out and clean a park. We can stop in and let them know that a WGA member/group did it. Why wait for National CITO Day…why not have several of these days during the year?

We can get a group together to “adopt” one of those areas on a highway. I would love to see this sign on the roadside: “This section of highway maintained by The Wisconsin Geocaching Association”…what a hoot!

We can continue what Rhonda started and work with the DNA and their seed plantings/collections.

    THE BENCH:
Each Team Badger has an outing, someone in the group hides a cache to commemorate our gathering together. The cache is left in the town that we visit.

The park bench idea could be done in similar fashion. Before a WGA hosted event, someone could visit the park and find out what their specs would be for leaving a bench or other marker in that location. A cache could somehow be attached to it. That way each person visiting the cache will know that the WGA was there. Details would have to be worked out, but it could work…and it could be fun!

Maybe someone doesn’t have extra $$..but maybe that person is a carpenter and can build that bench to donate. Maybe someone else has a metal shop to do the sign. And maybe there’s another person who would like to maintain a cache with the WGA name on it.

There are so many things we can do if we put our minds to it. Money or not…each time I’ve seen a “call” put out in the WGA, I’ve heard people answer.

At 12:00 AM, Bob and I pulled the list and saved it as a Word Doc. At this point the voting should have been over, so it should be accurate. Anyone interested in what we saved can e-mail the request to us @ meheula at wi dot rr dot com. We’ll e-mail it to you. Or, one can simply wait for the “official” results to be posted. Hopefully that won’t take long.

That’s kind of the point I was getting at. If people start posting their hides on the “Recommended Caches” page, it will have more activity.

and now folks, here’s another reason that some board members fail to jump in on issues… our comments are somehow taken as being not from the member, but from the board. So I give you…
The comments and opinions above are those solely of Team GeoPink (arcangl7) and are not those of the WGA, the WGA board, or its other fine members.

THANK YOU for noting what should be obvious to the membership at large.

Does it really MATTER where we post Topics??? Probabley not…

Of course the forums get noticed by board members! Don’t think for one minute that there isn’t someone watching every post that is made here!

As for where to post topics, if that doesn’t matter, what’s the point of having different topic pages?

In the case of the Board.. YES, everyone watches all the “sheep” all the time, yet if they were to POSSIBLY work on a catagory individually they can call in the rest when the issue gets out of hand…

PS I agree.. too much time wasted “pissing” out the fires!!

Why do I feel like I’m reading what you post in circles? Oh, that’s right…it’s because you’re talking in circles! While pissing out fires ignited by your own posts perhaps?

I firmly believe that the majority of our members want friendly and positive discussions here. But we also have the “Jerry Springer” type crowd who enjoy the excitment of a so called heated “healthy” discussion. I don’t watch Jerry Springer, and usually turn the channel when the show appears in a forum…

Sometimes it appears like someone is just looking to start an arguement.

That’s nice Brian! What you deem as the “Jerry Springer” crowd, some of us deem as the ones making us think. What you see as “someone looking to start an arguement,” others see as someone asking a question.

The funny thing here is that while you think your comments is general, many of us know who you’re speaking of. What you’re not pointing out though, is the fact that if not for the blinders worn, and the fear of change that many or our WGA members (BOD included) held, we could get past a lot of things mentioned on this thread.

What may have seemed like a simple question to Jeff, insulted you and we went another direction.

What seemed like a simple explanation to you, seemed like a load of…well…something to PCFrog

What may have seemed like a confusing statement to FuFu, seemed like a “no-brainer” to me.

Bottom line for me is that we, as a body of members (BOD included) will never agree on everything. There will always be another side, another viewpoint, another discussion. People need to get over it and “change the channel” like you do.

in reply to: NEW YEAR FUN!?!?! #1738527

We met up with Folk Trakers in time to snap a couple of photos and make a run for the lake…btw…NEVER get in Mr Trakers way when he’s headed for the water! He’ll take you in with him! LOLOL!

With the exception of one of us being knocked over and hitting the water sooner than planned, it was very much worth the trip!

Congrats to Mr Traker for making his 15th Splash and to Commander Bob for making his 1st. Thanks to Steph for taking photos to start the New Year with.

There will be a couple of people at the breakfast who have computers. If PharmTeam is able to make it there we can certainly get them logged in quickly! Gotta love wi-fi!!!

as for the back and forth basic arguing, there is a way to stop this. since the real issues in the topic i started were already answered and everything turned into a big flame war, as the topic starter i decided that it was best for everyone to just delete the whole thing.

last thing i wanted was to start anything, and to anyone that i offened with my opinion, i apologise. i will say that i have always looked to forums as great tools for sharing ideas/helping. sometimes people forget that an idea is differant than an opinion. opinions are best left for blogs that no one cares to read, that way no one will get offended by other members of the forum.
before i go i would like to say since we all live in the same state, we are all basicly neighbors and should really try to get along better.

Like I said in your last topic thread, “Are you kidding me?!”
THIS is the perfect place for us to give our opinions, but I respect your opinion of the “blog” idea.
I don’t know what else happened in your last thread. I was at work all day, but it seems I missed some things. Oh well.

in reply to: What are you doing with your coins? #1760598

What? Was I supposed to order some for Bob and I to keep? Dang it! All I planned to do was send them to countries where others were unable to have them shipped via the WGA. Guess I should have ordered a few more!
Seriously … I did order some for others in Canada and Japan and Australia, but we’re not sure what we’re doing with our personal ones. Most likely we will travel with one, and set one free. If you want to know where another will go you’ll have to look at our profile or go to our event (GCREQM) on the 10th to find out.

As for the paper coin…yikes! It’s bad enough to go to a cache and find that a bug is missing, but to go and find a paper replacement? Hmmmm…my opinion is that a paper coin would only be good in a paper cache, hidden off a paper trail in a paper park. But that’s my opinion.

Bob and I saw the bird there a while ago. We debated as to whether or not it was WI. Thanks for clearing that up for us!

It’s too bad that the container went missing. Since the man from the museum put it back, maybe he’d let someone place another there. You know…WI On the Move – Not just a State of Mind.

in reply to: Event caches #1760062

Is this really even worth another discussion? We’ve seen it before and will most likely see it again! Smalls minds are everywhere.

The only thing I can say is that perhaps someone who still has the files from their event should post a note to the cache page. Attach a link to the file w/ the map and description of the hides so that those choosing to can see what we really do, rather than getting an outsider’s opinion. (Hint, hint Ron!…Did someone say Port Washington?)

It’s never going to change until Groundspeak says it MUST! We’ll keep putting on quality events with good hides and go from there. No sense worrying about them.

    One question:
How much of our eco-system was displaced where your driveway now stands?
