    …a bomb shelter ……..?

Ok, another hearty recommendation for this cache! And with the high water and soggy ground all round, it was really interesting!

Fail the balancing act and you were likely to go swimming in some very cold water!

Lots of interesting things have appeared in this forum, but what about my original suggestion? Please?!

I still think an ongoing list of all the caches anyone would recommend is worth considering. As more indidivuals ‘vote’ for a particular cache, it would rise in the list and serve as an indication that perhaps you should look into it.

Well, and here I thought I had a nifty solution to this problem!!!

Thanks jvechinski for pointing out something I had not played around with yet.

GSAK is loaded with so many bells and whistles it’s hard to remember or know what they all do.

Go into the Tools – Options and active the User Data field. Make an entry in this field for the caches you are interested in. Make it the same for all the caches, such as 101.

Download the new PQ, and then use the Search filter to find just those caches with 101 in the User Data field.

I am seeing the issue over fees for an event as a major hurdle that can not be overcome.

The Powers That Be have the upper hand, and feel there should not be a charge involved in an event. Never mind that some of these events are to introduce neo-cachers to the sport, or to help geo-cachers in adapting to all the electronic gadgetry.

    So ……

Started with a Garmin Etrex yellow. Upgraded to a Extrex Legend, for the mapping. Never used the mapping.

But I love the toggle / rocker switch, as opposed to buttons on the yellow.

Make sure the unit you buy has a computer cable so you can download file from your PC.

Doug – are you aware your program that runs Net Framework also requires you to be running Internet Explorer? Some of us do not use that browser, so ……

And…. It looks like you will need to download My Caches PQ into the system to get the stats. My e-mail does not allow .zip files, so I am not able to obtain that query. Makes it awkward.

The example of your stats page looks great!!

Perhaps it’s time someone – like from the WGA board – queries GC and find out what requirements they have regarding stats and crawling techniques. I heard that Buxley closed down because of what they were asking.

I do not have the technical know-how to create such a site.

I am not advocating a rating system in my suggestion. For one obvsious reason, see pcfrog’s latest entry.

I am saying keep a list – if you like a cache, say so by ticking it off. As more people indicate they like a particular cache, it’s numbers will go up.

    No negative features invovled.

Yah, sort of exciting, isn’t it!

There are numerous other sites listing stats for different states.

“There are all sorts of “events” that have been popping up lately. After seeing some of the fees being charged lately, I’ve been forced to start paying more attention to the particulars of the events. I personally don’t understand why there is a need to charge such fees for classes. If I was hosting a class, it think I could do it for “free”. If I couldn’t, I probably wouldn’t host it. But hey, that’s just me.”

In my opinion, the logical place to be holding geo-caching workshops is in conjunction with nature centers and parks departments. After all, they have the open spaces ideal for geo-caching. Ok, so now they will serve as ‘locations’, instead of ‘hosts’.

A ‘fee’? Well, none of these places operate for free, so a fee or donation was not asking much. Actually, I have never heard of any attendee ever questioning this. It’s minor, and is a nice way of saying thank you.

So, I guess for future events, I will be hosting them solo, and charging a minor fee to cover my expenses. But I will also donate something, as a way of saying thank you.
