Well, I have 11 votes to archive, and one for not. So, I’ll continue to clean the bookmark listings up periodically.

    Thanks all.

I was not sure what everyone was talking about, but finally figured out I hit a ‘found it’ instead of ‘note’.

I like being able to verify coordinates before going out to hunt a puzzle. That’s the purpose of Geochecker, and I believe lots of cachers feel the same way.

I seem to recall someone thought it was “time to wean the area cachers off of the need for a checker.” Can’t recall who that was though.

Didn’t work …. who ever said it!

No, the maps have just turned up in the last 6 months or so, if I remember correctly.

Purists???!! I like being able to verify coordinates before going out to hunt a puzzle. That’s the purpose of Geochecker, and I believe lots of cachers feel the same way.

Sweetllife indicated to me that a county coop told them it’s a state law not to be in cemeteries after dark.

I was not able to find any reference to that.

Likely is a law, as vandals seems to like the dark to work in..

As long as we are venting on this issue. My problem with my GPS (eXplorist 210…I know, but it still finds caches) is that if two or more caches have basically the same name (for example, another walk in the park 1 through 4327), then it automatically deletes all but one, because it thinks it is a duplicate.

Does anyone know how to fix this? a solution that doesn’t cost money?

I don’t know if I ever noticed this problem on the 210, are you loading using the Magellan geocache manager software or GSAK?

I use the Megellan software. But I could use GSAK. I use GSAK with my Palm so I can do paperless.

I have never heard of unique cache names? How is that done?

Go into GSAK. Click on Tools, Options. Smart name fields in lower right. Change to 6 characters.

Then Click Display. Find smart Names field, and put a check mark in it. Then Click OK.

Smart Name will show on the display screen, along with cache names, etc. You can move the field to any spot in the line up by click and dragging.

Come to my Paperless class to find out more!
