I have some cache hides that require long walks where there are no trails, or use of a watercraft. These are seldom visited. I also have some park and grabs on the side of the road. These get visited a lot more. As a CO, that tells me that most people prefer the P&G’s over the caches that require more work. I try to vary my hides so that there are some for everyone. I know cachers who are not physically able to hike a mile to find an ammo can, but can manage the walk from their car to the speed limit sign without a problem. There also may be a reason that the CO chose the spot. Maybe it is by a friend’s house, or by a favorite hunting or camping spot. I drove 60 miles out of my way to get an FTF on a micro on the side of the road today.
I too have a variety of hides. I too have lost at least 8 ammo cans. OUCH. Unfortunately, I can’t continue to put out ammo cans at every location even when space allows for it. I do use higher quality matchsticks as opposed to film canisters to help manage upkeep. The joy isn’t always finding an ammo can, although it is nice, but rather where the cache location takes you or the spot that is revealed.
As Big Jim stated I try to make a variety of hides so all cachers have access to my caches, not just my paddle caches which require more work and effort to get to. Just have fun!

but then I really don’t want Johnny Gray’s autograph anyway. 😯 I probably would have put it on ebay and sold it to some Packer fan in Pennsylvania 😆
😆
Congratulations on #5000
Your hide count probably isn’t far behind that. Keep on having fun.
Congratulations on #900
Keep on having fun and maybe we will run into on the trail sometime.
CONGRATULATIONS CAT!
Glad to see you are caching somewhere even if it isn’t in your own neighborhood. Keep on having fun.
Congratulations on #1100!
I was glad to be along with you during this epic milestone. It was a great series that Big Jim put together and I one I would highly recommend to other cachers.
Keep on having fun David.
