    Congratulations!

Reflecting back on our first cache….

It was a large container and I finally knew just enough how to use the GPSr. My son and I went looking for the cache which was on the Eau Claire River Trail near our house. I insisted on using the map view while my son said we should use the Numerical “distance to cache” view. We kept switching it back and forth. We’d go left 20 feet and then right 18 feet and then back the other way as we discovered the arrow would change as we stood still and moved again and again…. After 15-20 minutes “near” GZ we found the cache and certainly got excited. Just as we found the cache it started to snow (it was March).

The funny side of the find was looking at our tracks onscreen since my son, SirCumference, had turned on the tracking feature. What a riot to look at! I often wish to this day that I had saved the tracks from that first cache and compare it to the ones we have today to see the advancement that we’ve made. (OK Bandits, OPS and Blick and… NO COMMENTS!!!!!!) Enjoy the sport and the places it takes you.

All I want for Christmas is……

    to go caching with RSplash!

I hear the kayak caches are easy this time of year. 😉

We’re in! Sounds like quite a bit of fun in the snow.

Bandits: You realize the topic was lonely caches, NOT “Lonely Cachers!”

    😆

Sounds like a fun twist to the game. I think it’s a good idea just to get people out to the caches regardless of trying to win a coin for a prize. Just to be a part of the fun is reward enough.

In order for us to grab out of state logs for you, you must provide the link to your geocaching.com profile in your account settings (Your Account -> Member Info).

Basically this is the only we can definitively pick out the logs of WGA members from the vast sea of logs on the geocaching.com Recent Logs page. (The geocaching.com username could be used, but if only a single character were wrong, it wouldn’t work correctly.)

So add your gc.com profile link and you should be set!

Thank you for the help Jeremy. I have added my profile link and now I will see how it works when I get the opportunity to cache out of state again. Thanks again.

The only traffic ticket I’ve gotten in the past 15 years was a speeding ticket I got in my home town of Grantsburg. There was a new young zealous cop who gave me a ticket for going 41 in a 25 zone. I was guilty so I just paid the fine.

However, in order to keep all the fine money (rather than sharing it with the county) I was actually charged with disorderly conduct (with speeding listed only when you look deeper) so my public record now has that charge. The county DA was surprised that I hadn’t hired a lawyer as lots of charges are written off. The police officer (who was eventually fired by the town within a few months) thought he was doing me a favor. I would rather have had the points on my driving record rather than the disorderly conduct.

I would probably show up in court to better understand any ramifications of any charges. You obviously have shown remorse. There is a good chance that you can get a lighter (or no) fine. At the least you will have a better understanding of the court process in case you ever have to go to court again.

Sure you got your ticket for speeding but….
I heard you roughed up the police officer afterwards and that is why you got a Disorderly conduct ticket. 😉

Got my coins today, and they are fantastic. Much better than the photo, and the photo wasnt bad.

Thanks for the great design Cinema Boxers. And thanks for the shipping crew who worked so hard to get this out. You guys are great.

WI Robin forgot to order one, so I gave one of mine to her for Christmas. Do you think I have my Christmas buying covered with that?

I echo Zuma’s comments. Great job on the coin and thanks for the effort getting the coin out before 2008.

ZUMA: As for the coin for a Christmas present….. Would you be happy if that’s what you got from her???

Mentioned Geocaching to _me___________. how would things be different?

    Okay, I’ll start.

I was introduced to geocaching by One Paddle Short

The sport has brought me to many places I would not otherwise gone to as well as the chance to meet a lot of strange people (That’s my wife’s comment). Geocaching as also opened me up to other opportunities such as kayaking. One of my first paddle caches ( I was FTF) was quite eventful with an old aluminum boat. I decided to buy a kayak and now our whole family, especially me, likes to go kayaking even w/o a cache involved. I don’t like to look at what geocaching has caused me to miss but rather the opprtunities that have arisen because of geocaching.

in reply to: Winter Caching #1881768

I do use the attributes to alert cachers of what they can expect. I also try to make ALL of my caches “winter friendly” so that people will look for them in the winter if they so choose.

    Hi all,

Wow, this sure was a popular thread over the weekend…..Wow.

My personal opinion, and it is just that, a personal opinion, has already been stated by many folks: It’s your game, play it how you like.

Numbers can be fun, but I dont think that it is the REASON WHY we geocache. They are just a fun side part of the game.

With that being said, can we all go back to hiding tupperware in the woods like adults?

    zuma

Would you like us to hide caches temporarily or permanently???

    😆 😉
