So much for my theory. I have seen some crazy things happen with my GPS, but dismiss them as wierd occasional quirks.

That makes it my most accurate.Oh, I almost forgot, it’s placed atop a 500′ high x 1 mile long iron ore waste pile. That means low grade iron ore. Of course at 500′ additional elevation, I am closer to the satelites.
It may have something to do with the iron deposits in an area or something to that effect.
I have had that happen many times out on the trail. It helps to stop and set the GPS down for a minute or so to let it settle down.
Marc and I would be glad to answer your questions one on one. I speak for myself, but I’m sure he would agree.
Yes, Cachemate is the most logical next choice and I assure you that you will want it to be registered. 10 caches maximum is not cool! I could let you use my Palm V for a short time to show you the virtues.

I hope to have a beer with you some day like we have saying back and forth for how long now?
My experience with GSAK is if I don’t delete all waypoints like Marc, you should not get duplicate waypoints unless they are named different the second time.
I have in the past just slammed in the newest packet along with all of the old waypoints with no troubles. But you need to delete the waypoints of the caches you have found already.
This works OK if you don’t leave your home area, but to travel to a new area it makes things a lot cleaner to start from scratch. I have also came across waypoints that have been updated, and guess who had the old ones still loaded.
Our local military surplus store on Wisconsin ave in Appleton is closing down. I had bought all mine from there in the past and always got a good price. Maybe I should stop on by and see what they are selling theirs for if they have any left.
Yes. Go to Geocaching My Account Details, watch list, find the geocoin on your watch list and click on remove. I don’t seem to have any but my own geocoins, but I have to believe that’s were they would be listed to watch. Hope that helps Donna!
Try tools, options, Display and make sure cache type box is checked. I can’t imagine what would make all of them come up as question marks, unless your pocket query is messed up.
Way to go! Glad to see that you are enjoying the sport! You are off to a great start!
Welcome Dan! You have a cache rich area to start and a host of some very fine people in the area that planted them. You should have a ball when the ground is clear of snow and firms up this Spring.
Looks like he decided on a Garmin StreetPilot c330. A bit pricier, but it looks like it will do the trick for him
Thanks for the feedback!
I am guessing that it would be mostly used for longer trips, so having the full set of maps preloaded would be a huge plus.
I find the hassle of trying to unlock my Garmin V to add maps just not worth the trouble so I gave up all together.
He has not done any Geocaching other than tagging along with me, so the remote cache thing isn’t going to come into play.

It’s a 2 year old thread. Cache could be gone by now.
I am currently using a Palm V for the most part and a Sony CLIE, and have used a Handspring Visor.
Both of my current PDA’s set me back $25. I wouldn’t spend good money until you know what you really want.

10% of the original proceeds from the coin sale??? I would say the choice to mint the extra special edition coins was a no brainer!
(Pauses to wipe the brown off of nose)

Kudos!
