I need help. There used to be a list of all of Marc’s cemetary series hides – you know, the ones where you have to find something on a grave marker. I can’t find it and would like to continue it, I lost my original list. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! 😀

My bad about the standing on a headstone thing…..I must have misunderstood the original post and I will edit if it’s not too late.

Like Team Black-Cat, I will not get into a discussion about walking on graves.

I was with Marc yesterday and did maybe a half dozen WSQ caches, and I noticed that he looked at the placement of the cemetery (is it on a hill? Nice view? All stones face the East?) that type of thing. He looks for unusual stones and notices if there are any special military flag holders from the civil war or GAR. We noticed what we thought was a very special round stone set in the ground, but it turned out to be from a headstone 10 feet away that had fallen from it’s “setting” atop another headstone.

What I noticed was his total genuine interest in almost every aspect of our visit with the geocache being a bonus to our being there.

Cemetery’s are like open history books that are meant to be visited and read before the words on the page are ravaged by time. I found my great great grand parents stone in Greenville that is all but unreadable. He died in 1860 and may very well be one of the earliest Greenville pioneers buried there. I find that fascinating 150 years later. 5 or 10 more years of acid rain and the marble will be unreadable. We need to remember the dead before the markers are gone. 😉

WOW !! Thanks for all the kind words. It was a blast getting to this milestone.
I am happy to say that I have shared many of my 5000 finds with a lot of good cachers. Thanks to all of you guys that have walked the trails with me. It has made it a fun journey.

I wouldn’t have traded the time on the trails for anything…all the deep insight and wisdom. OK, that’s enough mushy stuff! Congratulations on the fine milestone! I’m ready to hit the trails again!

I never ever check a log in my caches and don’t see it happening any time soon. If it were someone who was obviously armchair logging I might consider deleting the log. Having said this, I also have never placed a 5/5 that I might feel slighted if I thought someone didn’t take their canoe into the middle of the Fox river in December or swim naked out to the same island in the Summer.

I know of a person who has not signed many logs, but can recall almost any cache location from years ago if asked about it.

Personally, I would rather not sign every micro log in one of those micro ziplock bags but normally do.

Life is too short to pet the sweaty things….or was it sweat the petty things. 😆

What ever floats your boat. I still list my milestones every 100 caches. Might trim them back to every 500 if I ever get out in earnest again.

Thank you, and a Happy Easter to all! 😀

Now off to work at the Kotex factory…..

Oh the things you miss during a hiatus! 😉 Probably my favorite cache find was Alex’s Book of Armaments II: 9-21 that I saved for my 2000th find.

These are the unexpected prizes that I do enjoy a lot when I come across them.

Thank you Alex, Cheeto, gottarun, Dave, and anyone else who I may have missed who have put so much thought into their caches. I hope that everyone can find a peace of mind. I find if I take 6 or 7 months off, I can come back and enjoy the search for caches like I once used to.

I hope the “Good feeling” comes back after stepping back and focusing on finding caches for a bit. Again, thank you all. 😀

The ‘watch’ function is great for keeping track of what’s going on with a particular cache – who finds it, changes and or hints, problems, temporary disabled, perhaps it being archived, etc.

This is neat, but what’s the rationale for not letting a cache owner see who the “watchers” are? Or maybe I’m just missing another one of those hidden features.

I never thought about the owners being able to identify the “watchers” since it is a general cache finders option. I’m sure the powers that be figured some things are best unknown?
