Edit your cache page and where it says: Description in HTML? Are you formatting this in HTML? If you leave it unchecked, we will format the text as it is typed. Check the box that says: Yes. I am supplying the HTML.

You both have missed the purpose of my post….I thought it was funny to see a post were ‘Lil Otter had 60 finds! I told her about the post while hiking, but must not have explained the humor I found in it. Any who, you guys have some very nice land in this neck of the woods! I would love to buy a piece of it when I get back on my feet! 10+ acres with a creek and room to run a couple of ATV’s with the kids would be heaven!

Seems the Hotdogs and Little Otter have a bit of a local rivalry going. If she waited 7 days, why couldn’t she wait a couple more hours (sneaky otter)? It’s fun following an otter around the state, but this is the closest we came on a hunt (I always put the time of day on our logs for just this purpose). Out in the boonies here we rarely meet other hunters on the trail unless we know they will be there. So in our spare time we otter watch.
I just found something I found amusing while looking at Lake Petenwell Cache by Kidzplay:
June 30 by The Lil Otter (397 found)
I really enjoyed the area too.. just so you know.. it’s my 60th cache to find.. sorry that I beat you two (grins towards the Hotdogs)but I waited a couple days hoping you’d beat me to first finder..

I bought some 30 cal. in very good condition at the Appleton military surplus store on Wisconsin avenue near Mason St. for $2.99 each. I even got the owner interested in trying to find caches near Chute Pond where he lives!

Don’t know how easy they’ve been to find for everyone, but near me is Delaney’s Surplus (near Baraboo, Wi.) and they just got in 30 and 50 Cal. ammo boxes in good condition, but may not get any more. $4 each or 3 for $10. If anyone want to pick some up at a later date, I could buy and store some. Just a thought because I haven’t seen many around (I found one at a garage sale this year).
I see that the number of finds has now been restored! Looks like people really missed it as much as I did! Ya gotta keep up with how many Lil Otter is up to .

They are all out caching!
I hope you didn’t think I was putting you down Lil Otter, even though you probably have over a thousand finds by now 😉 I will make one of the gatherings one of these days and meet ya!

(Shameless plug) I have “dedicated?” a cache to Lil Otter called “Lil Black Otter” http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=34779

There have been discussions on how long it has taken cachers to reach their centenial cache, and I don’t believe anyone did it in just 48 days!
The next 85 were done in just 10 days!
Well Done Lil Otter!

For goodness sake, after 900 finds you are having troubles figuring out your GPS?

I have a Garmin GPSIII and like the way it mounts on the dash and is portable. WAAS wise I would replace it with the Garmin GPS V. I also have used a Garmin GPS 12 and love the way it locks sats under deep tree canopys! Inexpensive & great for hunting and Geocaching!
This was a request form the DNR for land under the direction of the DNR, not a statewide recomendation.
But there is nothing wrong with using a little common sense when placing a knife type trinket in a cache. Like everything else in this sport, just use a little common sense and keep the rules to a minimum.quote:

I know what you’re saying, sbukosky. But, we live in an age where kids are expelled from high-schools for bringing a kitchen knife to school to cut open an onion for a presentation in science class (seriously!).
Well done Ken. You and the others close to WGA are doing a great job! Thanks and hope to meet some of you one of these days.
That could explain why this cache disappeared.

I went to the two geocaches in High Cliff last year and mentioned geocaching to the DNR in the office on the way out. When I mentioned the location of the hard geocache, I was told I could have been fined for being there. It is in a prohibited area of the park because of the steep terrain and cliffs. I recommend we honor the park rules as we consider where we are hiding our containers. This will keep the peace with the natives and chiefs. Hopefully, we will also not be forcing others into illegal activity.
I just talked to the same reporter and gave her the name of Bill and Debbie “The Searchers” Funny how we both thought of the Rusch’s. I guess the next article will be for the Appleton Post Crescent.

Here is the “official” position that I recieved from the DNR. Personally I agree with the don’t ask, don’t tell, tread lightly idea, but heres what is happening:
Hi Mike,
There is no “official stand” on geocaching yet, but I will submit an
issue paper to our state park management team to consider it. I suspect
that we will treat it in the same way we have treated orienteering: no
permanent damage to the natural resources (no paint or nails on trees, no
digging in areas with endangered plants) and it can’t interfere with other
recreational pursuits.
I will recommend that if we allow geocaching, that the caches be
required to be located away from trails and developed recreational
“designated use” areas, not allowed on properties that allow hunting because
the caches would be shot up, and that the park manager would have the final
say on where the cache can be located. We may even restrict it so that only
one cache is located on each state park property. The park manager is best
informed on the pattern of uses and sensitive environmental issues on that
property.
I would hope to have a new policy in place by Memorial Day this year.
Please check back with me if I don’t contact you again by then. Thanks,
Bruce Chevis
