Congrats Barry for a great milestone and for putting up with Rod all day. And congratulations also to Val for all of the finds that she accompanied you with along the way. A great accomplishment for some “up north” cachers where the caches along the power trails are all a mile apart.

This is by far the best geocaching story that I have heard. We have had similar instances like this with our 8 year old grandson Eric who has a photographic memory and remembers almost every cache he has found. Every year when school starts and the teacher asks what you did on your summer vacation the tales begin. Kudos to all the kids who love geocaching.

I’m in. We hosted an event last Saturday at a George Webb’s in Sussex and they said they would be happy to have us again. Forty-six cachers attended. There were many newbies and they had a good time. I did hide 9 new caches, but I think most would have come even without them. The event was scheduled for an hour and a half and it lasted for two and one half. I was already thinking about another before I read this and with no caches, but some type of theme. So I’ll be waiting to hear from my BOD volunteer. Auntienae was present on Saturday, but she has two events she is holding in January so someone new would be nice. So contact me and we can get something set up for February.

I just wrote a 500 word response to this subject and then deleted it. I realized it would only antagonize and keep this going forever. I won’t elaborate on my ideas, but maybe it’s time to lock this forum topic.

I just checked the park website and group sites are available 11 months ahead of time. Each of the sites are already reserved for several dates throughout the year.

2″ of new snow in our part of Waukesha County, but if you go just 10 miles north there is almost a foot.

No snow around here. The rain finally started at about 2:30. Spent most of the day being the phone-a-friend to the 46 cachers who attended our event this morning. The calls have ended now so hopefully everyone is home safe.

Mine dissappeared within 24 hours. It was just by chance that I noticed them.

I had over a dozen at one time and then it went back to two. It seems that when it first started you were awarded a token for any cache found with the name of a stste in it. Having found all of Dr. Dolittles “states series” mine were mounting fast. The error was corrected and the all dissappeared.

Put a couple drops of cooking oil on it and it will stay on.

Maybe it’s just my eyes, but it’s hard to read with the green background.

The one thing we see is that geocaching families with kids have a hard time keeping on going. Their kids interests change as they are involved in other things that take up their time. We wanted to take one of our grand kids with us yesterday for the 10 caches that we found and all three of them had something going on on a Sunday. Just look at the top 50 cachers in the state sometime and you’ll see that most of them are over 40 and past that stage in their life.

Much better than marking the side of the boat! 😀

I tried that once, but we never caught anything when we returned to the spot.

What’s with all the people wearing no pants while caching? I hope it’s only a summer thing or you’re problems will be more that ticks.
