I have 7 dnf’s for 131 finds and I log a DNF even if I didn’t spend a super long time looking for it. I DNF caches because I didn’t find them, and so that I have a reference for next time. Plus as a cache owner it would be nice to see DNF to make me feel like maybe I did have a good hide 😆
I’m just personally troubled by someone posting a find even if they looked previously and DNF’d it but didn’t log that. (Guess that’s why we all have an opinion)I have also noticed that some people sign logs but they don’t log them online, why wouldn’t you??
I know several cachers who have hundreds of finds and never log them. One has over 500 finds. It’s everyone’s personnal choice on how they want to participate.
279 logged dnf’s. Went back and found about half of them.

The furthest that we have gone so far is 200 miles and none out of state. Going further would probably require more than one day and it would depend on what other attractions might be in the area. The longer that you geocache the game changes for you and going further than we have is probably one of the next steps. For us going further would also be influenced by others going that we may know or would want to meet.
I find it hard to believe that the number of mystery caches is a problem any where in the state. I live in Waukesha County which I believe has the highest number of caches of any county in Wisconsin. I have placed over 200 caches, 50+ this year. I placed 3 yesterday and 2 today. I have about 20 in my head and know exactly where I will place them when I get around to it. I have suggested possible locations to new cachers and they were very appreciative. That might be an option. As much as I like to place caches I like to find them too (over 3000 finds) and I can’t find my own.
I just hope that anyone interested in trying geocaching doesn’t think that you always take what you find. This really isn’t truly geocaching and they probably shouldn’t be using that name. It’s more of a gps related scavenger hunt. It has happened to me twice that a new cacher that didn’t fully understand how the game is played actually took the entire container. One time they did leave something thogh. They left an umbrella. I still have never figured that one out yet.

The last couple of times we were browsing the Recent Logs, we noticed a cache or two that had several (anywhere from 6 to over 20) found logs by a single cacher (different one each time). Surely this wasn’t intentional, but what causes that? Is it logging from a phone or what? Just wondering.
Was it the Navarino Event? That one had multiple “attended” logs from logging temporary caches.

So let’s say someone wants to put out a cache or something with a theme for a certain type of music. Let’s say this someone thinks it would be a hoot if, when the ammo can is opened, a snippet of the certain type of music plays.
Could this be done? If so, how? Without spending a fortune, that is?
Why don’t you do a night cache with a bedtime story in that would put cachers to sleep in the woods.
