Nice story, but 13,000 cachers in the state?
Try explaining geocaching to a reporter sometime who knows nothing about geocaching. I’m surprised and happy that he got as many of the details right aas he did. The opportunity to be interviewed came as a surprise to me. The reporter found out about geocaching by chance while he was covering a recent event at the park. The parks director, John Greiten who I know and is a great supporter of geocaching gave him my name. John welcomes caches in the Lisbon Parks and is also a guardian checking on them occasionally.
Heres a plug for Lisbon Community Park. 120 acres and 10 caches present. The Bugline runs right through the middle of it. 200 caches within 5 miles. Feel free to contact me for any info if you’re interesting in visiting the area.

I think that you’re over reacting a little. I’ve hidden over 200 caches and also occasionally get a few similar logs. That’s to be expected if you’re going to hide caches. Except for the last log that you note the others and even that last one contain information that is intended to be useful to future cachers. That’s one of the several reasons that there are for logging caches. I think you’ll find that favorable logs will always far outweigh those you might view as being negative. If you want to hide caches sometimes you have to be a little thick skinned.

You get the name of the cache that you are too close to, but not the actual coordinates so I don’t see that it is that much of an issue. At least that is the case in the half dozen or so times that I tried to place a cache too close to a waypoint for a puzzle.
I wondered what that noise was that I heard that day. Congratulations to both of you guys for putting up with each other all day.

We visit Waupaca to cache a couple of times a year. I think there are plenty of caches there. How close together do you want them?
.
Congrats Todd and also to Rod who was too modest to mention that he found #1600 somewhere along the way the same day.

Ok you thread stealers, since the cans are already spoken for…
My idea of the perfect cache is one you have to work hard to get to but is sitting right there when you get there. Hence, the big classic ammo can hidden concealed by little more than obvious stickouflage(tm) or SPOR. For us caching is about getting to GZ and seeing new and interesting things along the way. Wandering in circles for an hour after you get to GZ is not our idea of fun, and we find little joy in hunting for a filmstrip canister tossed into a shrub in the middle of a roundabout across from a busy strip mall.
I just finshed up our 200th hide. It’s a puzzle involving a tour of our local park. Along the way you have to gather information from a series of chainsaw carvings in the park done by park employees. These are first rate detailed carvings. After about an hour and 2 miles you are rewarded with a great adventure and an AMMO BOX.
.
I would have deleted the log. What they did could be detrimmental to the geocaching activity.
Congrats, great choice for a milestone. We wanted to try this one at the picnic, but ran out of time. I hope it stays around for a while so we get another chance for it. Congratulations on the find and your persistance.
Thanks 199 times Dave and Becky. All of your hard work has resulted in hours and hours of enjoyment for us reading the thousands of logs on our caches.

Might go another direction with this. What are your thoughts on the Maribel Caves? I know there are only a few nearby caches, but it looks like an interesting park.
Point Beach is close by. We visited the caves while camping at Point Beach.
