So happy to hear the news and we’ll look forward to congratulating you in person in 2 weeks.

Congratulations Dan. We ignored mulits when we first started caching. That all changed when we did one of our most memorable multis with you 2 years ago. After watching you during the hunt we had a new appreciation for multis. I just checked our stats and though we’ll never catch up to you on multis I was excited to see we are sitting on 99 multis found. Now I have to find an appropriate one for #100.

We only snowmobiled once to caches and it was a memorable experience. By the time we got back it was blizzard conditions and the sleds barely made it across the lake in blinding conditions. We only found two caches that weekend, Island View and Tailwater treasure. I was out that day with our son-in-law Doug of OPPS5.

Snowmobiled to within 400′ of this one. Had to walk through knee deep snow all the way to the cache. Located the hiding spot quickly and began the digging. Exposed the container, but could’nt free it from the ice and snow. Luckily we were able to remove the cover. Container was dry inside. Did some trading and left a TB. TFTC

12″ of new snow today. Our second find today by snowmobile. Got to within .1 of the cache and walked the rest of the way. Fifteen miles from the cabin in a straight line. We were gone 5-1/2 hours and put on 78 miles. Coordinates were about 30′ off on both of our GPSR so it took about 20 minutes to find. Cache was in great condition and well stocked. Left a TB that wants to visit ATV trails. Thanks for a great caching adventure.

Any of the traveling that we have done since we started geocaching has been in Wisconsin. Our idea of vacation traveling often involves visiting small towns. Most of the trips we take revolve about 50% around geocaching. Historic places and natural features with caches would be at the top of our list. State and county parks would also be right up there. We check out virtuals and EC’s, but skip them if the are involved and time consuming. Being that we are both semi retired now we take at least one trip like this each month year round. Bed and Breakfasts and camping are our most frequent overnight accomodations.

in reply to: Winter Hides #1917727

All hides are available in the winter, it just is a matter of how bad you want to find them. Our cache totals per month stay at about the same level even in the winter. Once you start finding winter caches you’ll find it’s very rewarding. I’ve cached on the snowmobile during a blizzard (not recommended) and have great memories of that. Snowshoes and a variety of different winter apparel make things easy and comfortable for us. The only caches that I see disabled for winter around here are in parks and other areas that are actually closed for the winter.

Congratulations. Thanks for finding 7 of our hides today while setting up for your milestone cache. Looking forward to meeting you at the Great Northwoods Event next month.

    Way to go Dave!

Way to go girls. Mission Impossible is on my list to get before the end of this year. If I would’ve known you were going I would’ve had you sign my name. Do you think Justin would like to go again and lead the way?

If you want to cheat on a game within a game then you should revisit (no pun intended) your therapist this week and address those issues.

    How many points for that?

Our daughter (OPPS5) went to the game last week and she said carry i seats are no longer allowed. The trash were overflowing with all the ones that fans discarded that day.

Do bring the blanket, the aluminum seats are very cold. We put toe warmers on the bottoms of our feet before we pur our boots on.

in reply to: "Premium" with kids #1917145

I’ve taken the premium status off for a day for anyone who has asked so they can get the coordinates and log the cache. I usually only attatch the premium status to protect a unique container or a series of caches. Right now I have 14 out of 118 active caches with premium status. 7 are unique containers and the other 7 are a series. Usually after about 100 finds I will remove the premium status.
