I ‘m not going to make a list, but if anyone ever comes to the Sussex/Lisbon area in Waukesha County I have about 40 family friendly hides there. Four of them are in the Puzzles for Kids series that use playground equipment to determine final coosdinates. This will give the kids some playground time in between caches and hopefully you’ll be able to get them to stay at it a little longer as a result. Our grandchildren got us into geocaching 2-1/2 years ago so our hides for the most part are to be family friendly. Always feel free to e-mail me for recommendations.
During the first year we probably read the cache pages less than we do now. Since our numbers have gotten up there we now read the text almost 100%. I’m going through Oconto County area caches right now for a week up there in a few days and I’m spending more time reading the text on Sweetlifes’ WSQ’s up there than I will finding them. Most of our summer so far has been hunting WSQ’s and historic sites. As someone who hides a lot of caches I really appreciate the effort that goes into creating an informative cache page, but I dissapoitedly believe I’m in the minority. I hope I’m wrong.

An idea popped in my head yesterday that I figured I would share here and see if someone can use. I would like to see a shirt that looks like a uniform, it should have patches and a place for the owners name. One of the patches could say something like “Official Inspector” the other “of guard rails, lamp posts and other metal things around the world”. Maybe a matching clip board and hat. I think many geocachers would enjoy a “uniform” like this to help them cover up the game playing in high muggle areas.
What do you think??
TEYou could have a velcro emblem on the shirt with changeable patches. If you were at a guard rail you would become a guard rail inspector, dead end, cemetery and on and on.
I have Energizer 2500mAh batteries in 2 Garmins right now. They were both on about 8 hours each day over the weekend and are still at 50% charge. We have an Energizer charger that we got at Menard’s for $20. It’s about 2″ x 5″ x 9″. I like it because it will charge 4 batteries at a time and take all sizes including 9 volt. That works well for flashlights and anything else. I have a smaller unit for travel that holds 4 AA. At Menard’s the AA are $10 for a 4-pack and D’s are $10 for a 2-pack.
Or wait until 2 days before the end of the month to post the first scores and then watch a mad scramble to get points.

What stinging nettle looks like 😯
Thats Good, in fact it reminded me what it felt like as I took a long break from stinging nettle post childhood.
Digessing a little. I always carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my bag. It will give you instant relief from stinging nettle.
What surprises me about this group is the 4 caches they have logged. Besides the 3/3 that your tale is about they claim to have found S/S’s Lookout Above I / Remnants which I almost had a heart attack climbing to. They also claim to have found Lateral Thinking which is one of the harder caches in Milwaukee County. I guess I shouldn’t badmouth someone I’ve never met. I just hope I don’t cross their path when we go to Oconto County in a week.
Congratulations. I hid my 100th this spring so I know what an accomplishment this is. We’ve enjoyed finding a few of yours and look forward to searching for more of them sometime.
Congratulations on the milestone. Seems like you chose an appropriate cache that matches your personna.
Congratulations Dave and welcome back to the Lonely Cache Game. Will we be see you and Alex going at it again next month?

I had to laugh at Bill’s comment. You can sure tell a difference in cache rich areas. If *any* of our caches have had 50 visits, EVER, I’d be thrilled!.
I knew someone would pick up on this. I’ve had a few hides that had 25+ finds in the first month. I think I have about a half dozen with more than 100 finds.
Even though we put out our hides mainly for the enjoyment of area cachers, we do most of our geocaching out of our area. In the next 2 months we’ll be going to Dodge, Columbia, Portage, Manitowoc, Walworth, Oconto and Marinette Counties. We enjoy the rural atmosphere more than our home base of Waukesha County. We also try to visit caches placed by the many geocachers that we have met at events during the last 2 years. I hope to get to the western part of the state and try some of the T&B hides within the next year.
If I have a container or muggle problem I have archived caches. I monitor all of my hides as to their activity and finder reaction. I have archived 26 of the 110 hides that I have placed to date. I try to keep caches out there that people have fun finding and are are found often. I ‘m hoping when I place a cache it will be found at least a couple times per months and 50 times or more per year.
Wow congrats! When we were out with you in January you were a couple away from 4k. We’ll see you at the campout in 2 weeks, you’ll probably be at 6k by then. Maybe some day you’ll get to retire and then you can get serious about geocaching.

Please don’t tell Sunshine about the kissing thing. We have kissed at a few caches for photo opps, but with the amount of deet we’ve had applied lately I can’t remember the last cache hiss.
I would like to see the caches submitted to the BOD or a COTM committee for review before going on the ballot. There could be basic criteria for an allowed nomination like length of time since placed, number of finds, well maintained. This would allow the screening and elimination of undeserving nominees. I read logs on one of this month’s nominations and as unique as it may be it is having problems with water getting into the container. It’s a cache that is only out for a week and has only a few finds. It sounds like a cache that is not going to stand up to the test of time. I personally won’t vote again for a cache that I haven’t found. No matter what you do you will never make everyone happy.
