To put this in perspective, Dan has done this with less than 4k finds.

Multi totals for the top 3 finders in the state are:

    Ecorangers – 569
    Zuma – 488
    HoneyBunnies – 795

We have had the opportunity to multi cache with Dan and he truly is a Multi Caching Machine.

Hey Bill, they live in Eagle River. Fondy IS someplace warm for them, LOL.

So what did they wear? Swimsuits and Bomber hats!

Congratulations. Nothing against Fondy, but aren’t you supposed to go somewhere warm for spring break? How about a congratulations too for a combined 8k+ for T&B and TE.

Most of the fish that I have seen have been smallmouths.

If you are in the Hartford area, I would have to recommend The Mineshaft. A half block north of hwy. 60 on 83 (the main drag). We have been going there for almost 20 years, and have never had a bad experience there and never left with an empty stomach. I don’t think they take reservations but if you go on Friday nights for a fish fry, go early or you will have to put your name on the waiting list. In the past we’ve been told about an hour wait, but it turns out to be about fifteen minutes. And that is when they are packed. They also have a game room on the second floor. Street parking the front with additional public parking in the back.

Sorry. I don’t have any coordinates. I’ll try to remember to shoot some the next time we’re up there.

There are better fishfrys, but not for the price. All you can eat for $4.95. The Mineshaft also has the distinction of being the largest restaurant in Wisconsin. It’s a great place to take kids of any age.

There are always those who will not give anything back to this game I guess. Geocaching depends on the welfare of others to continue (quite literally, in both time and expense), and just like life there will be those who take and take and take….

Since I haven’t hunted many ALR’s or hidden any I don’t have much of an opinion on the subject. However, I strongly agree with gr about giving back to the geocaching community. We are approaching our 100th hide and are in the process of completing a hide of a 7 part series. One of the first geocachers we met was Tami of the Ecorangers who always posts “thanks for giving back to the geocaching community”. Sometimes reading the log from someone who enjoyed one of our caches can be just as rewarding as finding yours. So wether you agree or not with ALR’s please do remember that there is a great deal of time, effort and sometimes expense in placing and maintaining all types of hides. Even if it’s only about the numbers for you the only way you get them is through the hard work and effort of the minority of those participating in the game.

Watched for about 5 minutes and just saw leaves and sticks. I guess that makes it almost 100% like real fishing. Some days just aren’t your day. Yesterday I found a 3 stage multi that hadn’t been found in 16 months and today I dnf’d 2 single stage caches. I did find a 10 part multi today and that’s not a fish story.

Any comment on bringing a dog along?

I’m guessing since it’s a State Park, dogs are allowed but with many limitations due to the picnic area rules.

Just looking for feedback to help me weigh the pros/cons.

Hotdogs Off Trail was at the last campout and I believe he was allowed free run of the park.

I saw a car yesterday in Mequon with a plate that read either “IFINDIT” or “IFINDEM”, I forget which. I noticed he had a geocaching.com sticker on his window. Anyone know who that is?

I think it might be Doctor Dolittle.
