Congrats Cary and Mary Ann. What a great milestone choice. Thanks too for all of the fun Kettle Moraine hides.
Normally after a day of caching we go to Culver’s. Last Saturday night we went to Ishnala Supper Club and had a $75 dinner. Great company was with us. Uncle Fun, geocaching widow and Hack 1of 2. Just one of the memories of a very social event in a great park.
None of the waypoints can be within 528′ of another cache unless they are virtual waypoints (no container or tag).
I used to think premium members only on our hides would protect them from muggles. I did a random audit of some of our hides and found that well over 90% of the finders were already premium members. Some of these may have changed if they came premium members after the find. All of our hides are now premium except for pngs. My reason though is not to limit accessibility to pm only. My reason is that this is an activity that requires far less $ investment than most others and that everyone who participates should contribute equally.
We have 2 Oregon 450s and 1 Etrex10. The menu is similar. The Etrex is toggle operated. I have found it to be more accurate that the Oregons unless under extreme tree cover. I have seen them a Cabelas as low as $75 if you hit the sale. Very easy to use.
I’m still working on trying to figure out what technology means.
This one is now on my must do list. A little out of our zone, but we will definitely take a slight detour on our next trip to the lake to get this one. And it even has a silo.
Make sure they say freezer proof. Some are not.
I get them at Fleet Farm or Walmart. I buy sets of assorted sizes. They are cheaper that way.
Nice job Jim. Great milestone.
Congratulations Clayton!
Hi Again Michelle. It was great to meet you and Jon at the Chili Event. Hope to see you both at more events in the future.
Check out Menard’s too and see if they have any left. They had Yukon Charlie’s which are a popular lower priced brand. You should easily be able to get some for $75 or less and if you get that into it get better ones later.
I would also recommend Walking Adventure’s hides at Woodland Prairie. We did those about a month ago with about a foot of snow on the ground and found all of them. We didn’t snowshoe, but you might want to now.
My sarcasm was actually aimed at those who were negative towards the Lab caches and not the Lab caches themselves. If you don’t like some of the new things go out there and find some of the other 26,000+ caches in Wisconsin. When you have found them all you can come back here and gripe all you want. There I go being sarcastic again.
