Here’s one that will bring back memories for you Becca. It’s still one of my favorites. Not because of the FTF, but the fun that the two of you had. I think you also sent me an e-mail that described it in more detail.

It was for “Walk a Mile in my Shoes”

2nd in our FTF quest this afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed this container. My son had to tell everyone about it after we found it so he called his dad, his grandma, and the clerk at the store we visited on the way home. Great cache!

I agree with Ralph. The pin wouldn’t be that obvious when displayed. Give out something that looks good and promotes the interest in the series and the WGA.

Didn’t do any caching since there weren’t any close to home to find, but we did go outside quite a few times in the last week. It wasn’t that bad if you were dressed properly.

Anyone who caches with that naughty Rod deserves congratulations for every find and especially a milestone.

Is there a link for the outing on the 8th. That date might work for us.

That’s the date of the WGA Chili Event. That will leave us out as we will be in Green Bay for that.

We just talked with Froggerz a couple of weeks ago about doing the Ice Grotto so we may be interested.

Of course, we can’t host an event to go find a cache, but there’s always a way. We did it a couple years back. It’s all in how you say it! 😉

Just make it a snowshoe hike event. Sherri Benz actually did a snowshoe event in Mauston last winter to find the Ranger Rick caches in Buckhorn State Park.

Our monthly totals really don’t go down in winter. Here are some of our techniques.

Look for new caches – if it was hidden in winter you should be able to find it in winter.
Look at the gallery and see if you can spot what the container is – it helps to know what you are looking for.
Skip micros unless they say winter friendly.
Keep a log of snowfall in areas where you might travel to during the winter – I mark the city and inches of snow on a calendar each time it snows.
Cache with friends – the company takes your mind off the cold and extra diggers improve your chances.
I always take at least 3 pairs of gloves along. Some for digging and some just to keep warm.
Don’t be afraid to dnf a cache – the satisfaction of winter finds will ease the pain of dnfs.
If these things don’t help drive straight south 1000 miles and come back March 15th.

Congratulations Rod. That’s a really big yellow smiley face. I hope you used a spray bottle.

Staying true to the title of this post we are probably not the norm for our area, Despite living in what is one of the most densely cache populated parts of the state up north cachers get the nod from us. When I saw this post two names immediately came to mind. Sweetlife and Bartrod. We spend quite a bit of time caching in Oconto and Marinette counties where their hides can be found. Bartrod has taken us to many interesting historic spots and also has placed several fun hides including his Oz series. I don’t think we have ever been in that area without finding a Sweetlife hide. We have enjoyed his off the beaten path WSQ’s and long hikes. His hides have taken us to some of the most scenic places in the area. As we work less we expect to cache more. A couple of cachers that we have only found a few hidden by, but will surely be on our list in the near future will be Sandlanders and Hotdogs of Trail. The few of each of theirs that we have found we really enjoyed mostly because of location. An untapped area for us is Trekkin and Birdin territory. We have had our eye recently on several of theirs and one of them will get the nod for #7000 coming up soon. I don’t want to offend any local hiders, but if I did have to pick one it would be beccaday based on the fun we had hiking to some of hers during the past couple of years.

Aren’t cold winter nights with nothing else to do fun!

I was really surprised when I looked at ours.
7 mystery caches and 3 traditionals
    unfortunately 3 have been archived
if we go with active hides it is
8 mystery caches and 2 traditionals
all that I could conclude from this is that we are spending way too much time with froggerz

384 given out, a balance remaining of 257
we’re pretty stingy giving them out
2 out of 20 finds got them today
A Little Library and a wooden bridge that we had to cross in our car
