If the area has changed you don’t know for sure if they would have found it. I don’t allow a found it log for that scenario. If it is simply a missing container and an easy hide I may let them log a find, but in most cases I stick with you must sign the log to claim a find. I have had some cachers replace the cache without permission and claim the find on easy hides. This annoys me because in several of these instances when I checked the cache was still there. They do move around especially with all of the new cachers out there.

So what is a reasonable amount of time to wait for an answer before you delete a log? I’m not real stingy, I tend to let a lot slide because I don’t want to be mean. But I had someone log a “Cool” on an EarthCache, no descriptive log, no photo, no answers sent. Two days ago I wrote them a nice note and said that I noticed that they were new and needed to send the answers and asked if they had any questions about caching. I haven’t heard back yet. I think it’s time to delete the “cool”, right?
I would delete it right away and send them a nice note saying they can re-log it as soon as the meet the requirements. That way you don’t have to worry about remebering to monitor it. I don’t have any earthcaches, but that is what I do with the challenge caches that I have. Most of the time it is from new cachers that do not fully understand the logging requirements. It’s not fair to the other cachers who do meet the requirements to let it slide. Be nice when you e-mail them and explain briefly what they need to do.
Congratulations on a great cache and milestones. We enjoyed your log. We tried for the ftf on this one when the cache was a few months old with no finds. It was winter and we ended up with a dnf. later we found out the coordinates were way off and to this day have not returned. Every time someone finds it I get the urge to try again. I remeber the view was great.
Congratulations and thanks for the great log. Inspiring as I am from that generation.
The nice part about the challenges is that as easy as they are you have to go out of your way to do them. The subject has certainly created a lot of buzz here. Probably the best thing to do is don’t create them. don’t do them and like Dave said go out and find the real geocaches. Just another item to get over with and move on.

sorry if this is a bit off topic. it seems to be where the thread is going…
While a few gun locks may seem lame to many, as one who solicited donations of goods for the 2010 WGA picnic, I quickly learned to be excited about any response to my queries. We ended up with 45 items for our attendance raffle which actually seemed like too much stuff. I guess we asked at the right time and those that donated felt generous.
Point is, and it was made already, its free stuff, if you don’t want it, when they call your number, don’t respond, let ’em call another number.
okay, back to the Stamp page, love it or leave it thread.
I’ll keep this off topic for a little longer. Remember anyone who is solicited for prizes only has certein items at their disposal. From their point of view they feel like they are contributing to help your cause. Si I agree with Pete, take what you can get and appreciate it. It was free!

I hope they don’t show up on the maps, and I REALLY hope they don’t show up in PQs.
BTW, Cheesehead Dave’s challenge is more like what I was expecting…
I hope they don’t show up at all. Sounda like an entirely different game.

In a past life I worked in the printing industry, you could in theory print the stamp card on the inside of the front and back cover, so those who want to could just take off the cover and take it alone. The cover is already 80# paper, the same as the stamp sheet, so it would cut down on the printing cost.
I just looked at the booklet. Barry, that is a really great idea. It should actually end up costing less.
I have seen many new cachers write notes on their hides, but click found it unknowingly. There is one cache in Milwaukee who has found his own cache 20 times by doing that. There are no rules or regulations so who cares. In the end the only prize is whatever type of satisfaction you get from geocaching.

P.S. Anybody else think because we had a Lackey from groundspeak that Jeremy Irish will show up? I heard he sends one out before he actually attends and next year is 5 years…. 😯 crossing my fingers and toes!!!
I would rather have Sandy back. Much cuter than Jeremy…
They were sending Lackeys to all of the Mega Events this year so I don’t think that means anything.

I have been involved with events where “runners” would go out for those who could not get away. If that interests you it might be able to be arranged.
I had not thought of this. I would be happy to make a food run for volunteers. I will try to remember to ask next year, or someone can just ask me then.
Great, now you are officially the chairman of that group, thanks for volunteering.

BTW there were 40 caches that you needed to find or re-visit to complete the series over the couse of one year.
I have a number of these on my “Solved/Unfound” bookmark list. I’ve found them to be pretty interesting and don’t really see a problem with this arrangement because A) They’re puzzles B) You’re the owner of both.
I have a vastly different opinion of the multi in Appleton that uses another cachers cache as a WP for their own multi. In fact I have a hunch that it’s probably not listed this way with the behind the scenes WP’s on the cache listing.
I’m going to be interested to see if out of town caches come to do our series as soon as the final is out. It would be a real challenge to complete in one day. There is a 9 part series and a 7 part series within it. This highlights tha caches we like best and have had the most favorable logs on. One COTM winner and a few more nominees in it too. Very few micros in the 40 caches.
CJ I wasn’t complaining. I was just stressing the point of contacting the reviewer to save time. WisKid even had to check on my series since you normally can’t create caches and challenges that only promote your own hides. I really don’t even know how it was decided that mine would be OK.
After a year of this series those who looked for it are sorry it is almost complete and want me to keep going. I’m working on a deserving final right now that hopefully will be a 5/5.BTW there were 40 caches that you needed to find or re-visit to complete the series over the couse of one year.

Yes, please just drop it in a regular letterbox from the atlasquest or letterboxing.org sites.
Not all hitchhikers are logged online. There is no tracking number like a bug. They pretty much just get released into the wild never to be seen again.
It’s always funny reading comments from geocachers disparaging letterboxers in these and other forums…you shoud hear what letterboxers have to say about geocachers in their forums! :wow:
A letterboxer gave us her pathtag. It says “we don’t need no stinkin’ gps’s”
