Steve (the reporter) contacted us and both John and I agreed to meet up with him. We had fun…and yes, he really seemed to enjoy it. Hopefully we will see him out on the trails again!
Honestly, although frustrating, I can see the law makers point…(not that it makes it right!)
Our activity has grown to a point where we are not “under the radar” anymore and people should be seeking permission to place any geocache. I feel that if people would be asking for permission to begin with and educating people along the way we wouldn’t be dealing with legislation like this.
Now I do not like that they are considering banning geocaching in that area…trust me, I know all too well what it takes to reopen an area once it has been closed…but I think that SCGA needs to get on it quickly and work collaboratively with government officials or they risk losing their rights to the area.
I know I hold the minority opinion, but we are a long way away from the days when we just do what we want where we please…we need to communicate, educate, and ask for permission!
ok, go ahead..throw tomatoes…
Thanks for taking care of things!

Kudos to you for all your work! What was the turnaround time in getting your cache approved? I know one of the Chicagoland counties has a similar policy and I hear it literally takes months for a cache to be approved by that county’s park district.
It was basically instantaneous…thank goodness we don’t have a turn around time like that!
Congrats to baby Flushingrouse on her first geocache find!!!! Conrats Bill and Anne she is just lovely!!!!
Welcome! Gald to have you join in the fun! Hope to meet you soon at the picnic and on the trails!

You sure looked impressive after completing this one…the Gauntlet…full of mud…glad we took picts! Way to go…here’s to many more adventures!!!!
Wow…there are some personalities on this board that stand right out…but for me…the Big Cat called to me…hehehe
Woo who I bet you are just Thirsty from all of that caching!!!
wow…that is IMPRESSIVE!!!!
Keep it up and happy caching! here’s to more memories!
I understand wanting to have another cache that would serve as a place to log temps…but the DNR/Park officials will have none of it. We are working hard to promote healthy relationships with the DNR, and any permanent cache, disabled or not, would be a violation of our agreement.
As far as I am concerned, the board is putting this event on for our membership…let us choose to do it in the way we feel best…and we will let you hold your event in the way that you choose best. If at an event you host you choose to have a permanent cache to log temps…then fine. It is just not happening at this one.
Thanks for all of the feedback.
This is very sad news indeed. Thank you Tie for letting us all know!
Way to go! Congrats!!! Hope to catch you on the trails soon!
LotsaCache bought their own lunches with their newly aquired lots of cash…WISearchers bought their own with their own lots of cash…
This was a great cache by the way…and luckily we were teamed up with a creative mind like Chad to help us break the code as well. We look forward to heading to the area again to do more of your puzzle caches…if they are anything like this one we will continue to have nightmares about them! Great caching with you!!!
