If you didn’t already notice the annoying bar. I have got around to getting current and did a major update on our website Privacy Policy. Last update was in 2011 and lots of laws have changed since then. We should now be compliant with the Californian legislation as well as with the European Union with our policy(just have to make sure we follow it haha). I’ll be reviewing our terms and making sure thats all good too.

Welcome to the club! I remember my 1,000 find was pulling out my climbing gear and rappelling down to the cache near Duluth, MN. I know the feeling of looking at your neighborhood. I know I slowly picked on the caches in my old town of FDL especially when I was keeping my streak going, I was being picky. Then I just never got to finding local always went away. Then this spring I started to try and work on cleaning up the town but didn’t get so far. And now I moved :/ To where I have only a few finds previously. So now I have way to many to try and clean up now haha.

So news heading back in the positive direction. After getting everything figured out with HQ I was still having issues. Haven’t been able to look since the picnic and everything. Got back on it today still had issues, emailed HQ trying to troublshoot, and found a couple more issues. Those got resolved and it looks like I should be able to now finish getting the authorization to work…… But with the new version…..

So Long story short, I am going to have to do some new development to get the New API authorization to work with our website. Then follow up to that is to verify if I need to do any updates to existed API features starting with the LCG for now. Sadly will be a long work in progress but we will get there. But its all moving forward.

Okay FINALLY…. at least for now.

I have gotten the LCG list loaded and should now be able to create a LCG submission now. Thanks again for all your patience as we try to continue to work threw some of the open issues on the website. If you are still having issues with creating submissions or don’t see the cache in the list to submit, please let me know.

Were you including an attachment or file or image or something like that? Was it a very very long post with a lot of text? Did you try to include any HTML tags or bb shortcode in the post?

I agree with you in that it gets frustrating trying to participate in something that isn’t working. After working with Geocaching.com we came to find out our access to communicate with the Geocaching.com servers was turned off. (Which the LCG and other features on our website rely on this communication). I have been working with them and they have been wonderful to try and get us back up and working, sadly there are additional changes required on our-side to get everything back up and fully working which I am currently in progress of. I’m hoping to get something back up on the LCG ready for submissions at the latest the end of this weekend.

Again I apologize for the issue and frustration this has caused for everyone and appreciate the understanding. Don’t let this stop you from continuing to search for Lonely Caches as no matter what we will get the submissions working again to keep the game moving.

We are getting closer to getting the API back up and working.

Working with Groundspeak we have discovered that our API account has been disabled but I am working with them and they have been wonderful in trying to get our API access back up and working. Hopefully will have it enabled by then end of the week, if not early next week and can get the LCG list loaded and I’ll have to start making some different adjustments. That will also hopefully get the COTM banner maker back up as well.

Update:

I have been in contact with the GCHQ and with API team working on figuring out all the different information.

Plus side is the old API should still work but with some changes with the new API might of broken how they handle the account authentication. I’m working with them currently to get this resolved.

Also got the WGA gmail account and [email protected] email address added to their API email list so we can now stay up to date on any information or changes happening with their API to hopefully avoid future problems like this as well as when they decide the end date is for the old API.

Also learned that the API account is tied to Brian’s Geocaching account. Perusing additional information about what it would take or the process to potentially to get it moved/setup with the WGA’s account so it is all linked and tied together with the organizations account.

Moving closer to resolutions but still working on it.

I apologize and know this is still an open issue. I looked into trying to get the LCG caches loaded and realized even if I did, there still would be issues with getting the proper scores posted for those LCG finds. I have been in communication with GC last week and will continue to work to get the service back up and working one way or another. Thanks for the patience of letting us work through these issues.

We are aware of the issue, and we are having some issues currently with communicating with the geocaching.com servers. I am working on trying to solve the major problem. If still having issues I’ll get something in place so that you are able to submit the caches to the LCG by the end of the week. I apologize for the inconvenience.
